Have a Positive View of the Intense Competition on Steemit
You join. You earn nothing after a month. You can get discouraged. Others become angry. They forget that when you become a writer or freelancer, you open yourself up for competition.
You can start out on Steemit without paying a dime. The conditions for participation are straightforward: post exciting content regularly, comment on other people’s work, build your reputation and make money.
The low barriers to entry, high demand for productive occupation and the intense desire for personal attention means that excelling at Steemit is not a walk in the park. It takes hard work, persistence, and dedication to succeed.
Members judge you based on your input. When you stop being active, you don’t earn, although you can delegate your steem power and earn passive income. Delegating steem power works best after you have received enough tokens.
One disadvantage is that the quality of work for a writer is subjective. Unlike some occupations such as accounting and medicine that are strictly regulated, the quality of written work varies from one reader to another. The power of members to ignore, vote in favor of or against your work underpins the strength of social platforms such as Steemit.
Steemit allows you to express your opinion. You can post anything that is interesting, beneficial or adds value to the platform. You become more and more potent as your following and reputation grow. You interact with others and learn in the process.
Another plus for Steemit is that it introduces members to the cryptocurrency world, which has potential to take over the world. When you earn Steem Dollars, you can invest it for capital growth or exchange it for fiat money and spend it.
You can build decentralized apps (if you have the know-how) and benefit yourself and others. The number of crypto-based bots and apps are multiplying at supersonic speed. Some upvote or submit posts automatically, allow members to sell things to one another, and many other things.
The good news is that it is hard to cheat on blockchain based social platforms because all transactions are accessible for scrutiny to all members. Malpractices and manipulation cannot be eliminated, but are inherently limited.
Of course, you cannot come to Steemit and hope to earn a living straight away. Some months have to pass before you see rewards for your efforts. Even then, just like any freelancer, you don’t receive insurance and retirement benefits. For some members Steemit is just another social platform, earnings are a bonus.
Steemit teaches members to be hardworking; to be disciplined, patient, and have self-control. It encourages you to excel at what you do. You should not be discouraged by the intense competition, it is healthy and a stimulant for further growth.
