RE: How is Steemit different from Reddit?

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

I'm a once in a while redditor - and when I first found Steemit I thought it reminded me of reddit, but now not so much. There are no moderators on here - you can post whatever you want.

That said - the community serves as a moderator. If you piss whales off they could flag your post into oblivion, and ruin your reputation points so that none of your posts show up. While I've seen it happen for petty reasons - that community policing definitely helps when it comes to blatant scammers.

Freedom of speech is as free as the audience you draw in. Posts on crypto seem to do exceptionally well. Making $ is not easy, and should not be your main goal. Make friends, engage, post good stuff - and the money MIGHT come - but if you chase it, you'll get frustrated and leave. I can't stress enough - do not come on here with the goal of making an income, just look at anything you make as a bonus.

It's hard to explain - interface needs a lot of things, and has a beta feel.

finding quality posters can be a challenge - but once you do, see who they follow to find similar content.

good luck and as they say...steem on!

I am starting to love steemit. The lack of an official ap is making me a bit tedious. I like to do stuff mobile mostly and get involved in steemit. But having to use my laptop always is turning me off.

Their apps page lists a massive apps but I am not sure which one can be trusted because this is crypto based and you know 'money is involved' :/

Too funny - I absolutely hate apps and still do everything on my laptop lol. I bet you are under...30 aren't you ;-P That said - I signed into Busy.org - and it automatically went through steem connect - and I freaked out because it means that Steem connect has my password.

I feel the same - they all say they can be trusted - but I mean, if Intel - who does 1 thing and has been around forever can't do their job right, how the heck can we trust anything crypto based? So many risks ! (and rewards)
