Why does everyone put the success of Steemit on the whales?...My thoughts
This is why I love Steemit which I will post the full reason why later, but essentially I wake up every morning now with lots of new random thoughts that I can share. So I see many people either praising the curators and cursing them. The one thing I'll say that I don't like is the fact that because they have so much swing in votes it becomes a lemmings effect where when someone sees a top earner vote on something they just blindly vote to get in on it. I would hate to think that the success of this platform will be based off of blind random upvotes which you have seen in the past week with the make-up tutorials. I'm not complaining it's great for everyone but I think the curations needs to be more communal rather than oh there's a whale vote let me get in on it.
I'm loving how more of the technical aspects of Steemit are making it to the top case in point the excellent post by https://steemit.com/@cryptoctopus regarding the Steemit Facebook page. These types of post deserve the upvotes that they get because of their value. I definitely would like to see some more creative interpersonal thoughts or original photography or original post and not the lemming esque types of post I currently see.
Steemit has entrenched itself as one of my favorite source of news and information so definitely the power of curation is important but to put that all on the top earners seems biased in some way. I can't wait until some layout changes happen to Steemit like instead of just one stream of new content maybe have categories of new streams show up under trending in the corresponding tag that way everyone can somewhat be seen and not buried under everyone. It could make curating a lot easier and not so mechanical in some way. I know this is all still early beta but just a thought for the future. Thanks for reading
Absolutely great mindset to look at things in this manner. Everyone worrying about the posts making 30k for makeup and getting upset really should try not to get themselves so upset.
Instead, smart people like @Rolandp and others took action, and made their own video. It inspired creation instead of anger or sadness and despair.
Keep doing what you are doing, you are awesome!
I couldn't have said it any better, great example btw too. Thank You
I agree. A bit too much activity in the wake of the whales. Well said
I appreciate you for reading! You got my vote :)
agreed! need more interesting read here. I was browsing random posts for last couple hours hoping to get some examples of good posts, maybe grab some ideas of what ppl like to see, learn more about posting here... i'm so confused... some really good posts don't get a proper attention and some stupid pictures will get hundreds of likes and $$$
Great posts with great points!
I agree with you. Question about whales for a couple of weeks open.
I am a supporter of high-quality and useful content.
But unfortunately now in the top of a lot of emotional posts rather than quality
I only read your post so I could benefit myself.
It's just the way it is
