Big Movie Chain: Steem'n Buttered Popcorn with Smart Media Tokens FTW!
In part I of my series "The Big Movie DAO", I created a general overview of the problems in the motion picture business processes and how "The Big Movie DAO" will begin to address these issues. I also mention a global scale distribution platform.
For marketing purposes let's rename "The Big Movie DAO" to "The Big Movie Chain".
Like crowd funding there are plenty of existing and upcoming distributed content platforms. Lbry, Decent, SingularDTV, Showcoin, LivePeer and the list goes on. All of the aforementioned provide content and reward incentives for creators at some level. What they are all missing is a user friendly interface that makes accessing content easy. There is one project that seems to have overcome the user friendly obstacle when it comes to movie streaming. PopcornTime... the streaming torrent platform the the Motion Picture Industry almost shut down, except it was open source and other developers copied the project providing irregular updates that improve the platform still to this day. The most damning thing about PopcornTime was "It is just like netflix..."
While PopcornTime is useable just like netflix, the underlying technology and revenue model is very different. Netflix pays mighty for content licensing, servers and now production budgets. The PopcornTime system uses torrenting, pays nothing for streaming video servers, nothing to the content rights holders and is considered Pirate software.
The Big Movie Chain is going to fix what is wrong with Netflix and PopcornTime! Using PopcornTime codebase & Steem Smart Media Tokens, a cost effective easy to use revenue generating movie distribution platform can be created. Private label movie chains can be created. Viewers of the Big Movie Chain pay only what they want based on how much influence they want on the platform, after that content is rewarded for getting likes/upvotes from viewers.
By specializing in the integration of the Steem Blockchain into the PopcornTime platform, Big Movie Chain will be the perfect marriage of mature new media technology and token monetization. The business of motion pictures made sustainable by Steem'n Buttered Popcorn.

Thanks for commenting, the idea is to use the interface and attempt to create a closed garden of torrents that can be used on this platform. Essentially, the technology is being used but with caveats like "network approved" content only. If Bitttorent can add DRM, I am under the impressions we could add DRM like features.
