Steemit For Beginners

If you haven't used Steemit yet, you should give it a go.

I've posted around 4 times now and one of my shortest post has earned me the most. In this post I'll explain how the rewards work.

Signing up to Steemit is quite simple. It takes around 48 hours for a new account to be approved.

Make sure you keep your password secure as it is will also give access to your Steem. Your Steem is held within Steemit.

Choose a memorable username as this will be your ID on Steemit. You will not be able to delete an account once created. The account is stored on the blockchain forever.

You need to verify the account with a mobile number. The same number cannot be used more than once.

Steemit is a decentralised social network where you can post content and earn a cryptocurrency called Steem. You can also earn Steem by 'upvoting' (similar to liking a post on Facebook).

Steem is the cryptocurrency used within the Steemit platform. These cryptocurrencies are created by the network and distributed to all users.

Content creators can earn steem by posting content and getting their posts upvoted. If you upvote or comment on posts, you can also earn Steem. The more you engage on Steemit, the more Steem you will be able to earn.

Steem can be bought and sold on exchanges like Bittrex.

What is Steem Power?

You can buy Steem Power with your Steem. Steem Power gives you more upvoting power. You can earn more by upvoting other peoples work and commenting on them. Also, having more Steem Power means that your upvote will give higher reward to the content creator.

Steem Power cannot be sold for 2 years. This prevents people from dumping large amounts of Steem and reducing the value of it. See Steem Power as a long term investment. As the network grows, your Steem Power will be worth more.

Focus on your target audience and start creating content. Also, follow others who write about topics of interest and start engaging.
