Bitcoin Sign Guy' Nets Almost $15,000 After Fed Chair Appearance Goes Viral
The bitcoin group was swirling yesterday while, amid an appearance before a Congressional advisory group by Federal Reserve seat Janet Yellen, a participant held on high a "purchase bitcoin" sign. The picture of the sign rapidly circulated around the web, however, the participant and his companion were, at last, made a request to leave by a staff member.
Not long after his appearance, it developed that the individual is a companion of a cryptographic money broker who tweets under the handle CryptoEthan. He posted a photo of the individual – soon known as the "Bitcoin Sign Guy" – who, notwithstanding holding up the now-notorious sign, shared a bitcoin address too.
As of press time, that address has accumulated 6.32570673 BTC, a sum worth just shy of $15,000 at current costs. While the majority of the exchanges included, numbering 556 as per Blockchain.info, were little in scale, one striking commitment was for 1 BTC.
The photograph that incorporated the address was at last erased at the Bitcoin Sign Guy's ask for, however, he later went by the charitable promotion assemble Coin Center, which is headquartered in Washington, DC.
The viral action prodded a few trick endeavors, with a few records posting Photoshopped forms of the first picture with new locations.
