in #steemit7 years ago

The present post is to inform you and the entire community about an impostor on steemit.chat that seeks to defraud people from the steemit community. The objective is to alert the community and prevent more people from falling into this type of deception.

Note: I do not speak English, I apologize if there are grammatical errors. My only intention is to benefit the community. This post was made with a lot of effort.

ALERT TO THE IMPOSTER OR THE IMPOSTORS!

The day 2017-12-11 I was a victim of a scam and fell for innocent into the tricks of an impostor who was made to pass by the whale "fuzzyvest" in steemit.chat. In the afternoon of yesterday, when it was exactly 14:00 pm/2:00pm - (Venezuela time) I received a message on steemit.chat from a user whose account name was "@fuzzyvest" where the conversation He started with a "hello" and asking me what my account name was on steemit.com, I responded by telling him my account name; then the imposter tells me that he will increase my vote and that I only had to send 1 SBD, which I found extremely strange, but guiding me that his username was "fuzzyvest" just like the whale I thought there could not be a duplicate of the same and that he was fuzzy who had written me, really. (I let myself be carried away by my naivety, now I know it)

I proceeded to ask him where i would have to send him the SBD, to which he replied that bittrex and he gave me his data; I still with the doubt I looked for him in steemit to see if the names coincided, I compared the names with the one that appears in the tool "whaleshares.net" and because both were the same, despite of the doubts I decided to send him the SBD, then I passed him a capture with the evidence that i had already done it, after he asked me if I could send 3SBD more, which I immediately refused (I did not have any more money) and it increased my suspicions that i had fallen into a scam; After a couple of minutes and seeing that nothing was happening, my Steem Power did not increase, and there were no votes in my post, I asked the supposed "fuzzyvest" about what was happening, that I still did not see what he was promised, and the response I received It was ... _-wait- ... _ and the truth was that I stayed waiting, with the illusion broken and completely cheated by naive.

  • @bandagangrena is my username in steemit.chat (Clarification).

  • The accounts that are reflected in the images located on the left side did not hide them to give more credibility and validity of my steemit.chat history. The only account directly involved in this case is that of the impostor who called himself "fuzzyvest". (Clarification)

In search of help I contacted my friend @dropahead who took my case to the channel #steemitabuse on steemit.chat, likewise I asked, in the general chat of the whaleshares discord server, for the name of the account on steemit.chat of the whale @fuzzyvest; I thought that it could still be the real whale and that maybe the process took a little longer. In the end I received a response and collaboration @akrid (one of the administrators of the whaleshares discord server) which told me that I had fallen into a scam, likewise on the #steemitabuse channel of steemit.chat the @pfunk user confirmed me that the user "@fuzzyvest" of steemit.chat that had written to me was an impostor and that the account had been disabled.

REFLECTION AND RECOMMENDATION FOR ALL:

I know I fell for naive, but now this experience has taught me that before trusting someone I should investigate if it is truly a real person, if it is a real legal business, and that it is not a scam with an impostor that is posing as prestigious people in the community. One of the things that I also fell for it was the desire not to lose the opportunity that was offering me "a whale", another thing is to think that there couldn't be an impostor with an account that bore the same name as a whale, and my mistake was not having asked influential people in the community before if that user was the real whale or was an impostor. So, if in the future you find yourself in a situation like the one that happened to me, before making any transaction or agreement, verify the following:

  • That the person you're dealing to be real.

  • If the person who contacts you has the name of a whale or some other influential person in steemit, ask first in other chat for that person to verify if the account is real or it is an imposter.

  • First of all, always have a bit of malice and insight (which I did not have) to detect any kind of strange thing that might be happening. _ (That a whale is contacting you is strange, as I could not have thought it clearly, I was a fool I know it)

Now that you know this, spread it throughout the community so that everyone will find out and nobody else will fall for what I fell. Many will say that 1SBD "is nothing", but for us Venezuelans is a lot since currently 1 SBD here in Venezuela is equivalent to almost 3 minimum salaries, so the truth would be a sadness that anyone in the community lost 1 SBD and is falling in this type of scam.

It is necessary to highlight the following:

  • The objective of this post is to alert all the people in the community about this type of scams, that the whales of steemit find out that in the different chats there may be people who are impersonating them using accounts with identical names wrongly putting in this way the name of some whale or any other user in steemit.

  • I have nothing against the people whose names were mentioned here. THE OBJECTIVE IS TO WARNING ON A SCAM THAT HAPPENED.

  • To avoid misunderstandings it is necessary to emphasize that, I AM NOT ACCUSING THE WHALE "FUZZYVEST" OF SCAMMER (A). In this post is denouncing a user of steemit.chat whose account has the name of the whale mentioned and was committing crimes on his behalf.

  • I call to @fuzzyvest and other whales to read this post to find out what happened in order to investigate possible impostors who may be using accounts with the name of any of you, either in steemit.chat or in any other website.

  • I call all members and users of steemit to find out what happened and alert all our colleagues, the minnows and the community in general to avoid falling into these traps made by malicious people.
