Steem tricks and scams for upvotes
Hello again!
Today as I was browsing the platform for interesting articles, I've noticed most of them have something in common. Maybe I had the luck of finding most of the accounts like this but it has become a trend on Steemit.
Seems people use a simple trick to gather enough followers and get their articles voted even if they write nothing interesting or meaningful. I'm not saying it's a bad thing but where can we draw the line? Where do we take a stand and say: "I've had enough of seeing contests of winning steem dollars!"
Let me explain to you the trick of making a successful account. First if you manage to get on the platform, you're a lucky man or woman, then you are awarded so graciously by the Steemit community a certain amount of steem dollars so you can have the possibility of upvoting other people's articles. You spend about 50$ on steem dollars and transfer them to the platform.
You have the dough, now you start making a lot of posts spamming and creating a sort of lottery that offers one lucky person a small amount of your amount. They usually sound like: "win 1 SBD if you upvote and share or comment..."
This is actually a good way to attract someone with very few chances of winning but gain notoriety. Using the gullibility of people that they will actually win something is a good way to make a decent amount of $$$.
What happens to the rest of the people that actually write something interesting? Well, they fall to the bottom of the list because people want to earn money instead of learning from other peoples experiences or discovering amazing things through others.
True bloggers are not appreciated anymore because of the lack of contests and lottery. Of course there is another way of doing this simply by creating bots that can giveaway small amounts for free to people. Think about it, investing 50$ and gaining more than 1000% from it through all the people that participate in such scams. If you think they are good and worth playing with, by all means go ahead and do it. But keep in mind so are many more so the chance of you winning falls from 100% to less than 0.1%.
Don't get discouraged though, people are still playing the lottery so who knows.
If you're the kind of person who still believes in rewarding someone for the content and not for the contest, then spread the news and stop this scam of trading 1 or less steem dollars for fame. It's really sad to think people can be bought through give-aways.
Hoping you've enjoyed my thoughts on how to make a couple of bucks on this platform, please upvote if you thought it to be useful and leave a comment if you want to share your thoughts on this matter. :)
See you next time with more interesting articles.
There are lots of things about Steemit that don't seen fair but there's not much we can do to change that. I was bored of having almost nothing to upvote with, so I bought some Steem and powered up. Most of the money came from another coin that did well for me. Now at least I can upvote others and my own posts and make a little bit of steem and steem dollars. Hopefully the price of Steem will keep going up and my upvote will increase in value. If you don't have any money to power up, try the steemit chat site, Discord and Telegram. I haven't done that much but there's people that are willing to help.
Thank you for the advice and the comment. I'll be sure to check all of the options you suggested.
