Google ads are on steemit!
Yesterday Steem inc announced that google ads will be on steemit and we can finally see it.
To see ads you need to open browser in incognito mode or just log out from steemit and you will see ads.
I dont think its best place for ads, because if there is a lot of comments nobody will scroll down to bottom . ( i think its ok to show at top or just under the post or in side of post)
Now lets move to why its important to have ads on steemit.
Steemit before had model that the more people use steemit the more company lose money,because need more nodes and more money to operate them. Its super bad strategy for long term as we can see and ads can give some profit, because more people on site more money ads will bring, so its important to have source of income except to sell steem tokens , because price of steem is very low right now, but expenses to run nodes high.
Now lets discuss why its for non logged in steem users, because more than 50% of steem visitors are from search engines (google,bing,yahoo) and they are random guys who came to read some articles and they will see ads, so we as steemit users will not see them and not will be disturbed.

if we exclude venezuela and india then its quite expensive clicks from this countries, plus in top10 are netherlands,south korea and so on. So clicks can be up to few $ per click.
With this steemit inc will finally have first source of income !
What you think of google ads? do you think it will help steemit inc to survive in this bear market? What else steemit need to do to have more flows of income?
Ads will be like on coinmarketcap i believe. So be prepared for casinos and icos.

If there is one thing that this bear market has taught us is that we need to be very smart about alternative sources of income in order to survive in the long run.
What is the point in steemit if we have to use ads? A lot of people are on here because of the censorship of ad companies on Youtube, if we bow to advertisers on here as well what is the point in this community?
We dont bow to them, we use them.
Alternative is to pay from your pocket with more inflation.
This is just one way of accessing Steem. There are other clients out there. But also, don't forget that Steem itself is not managing the advertising, it's Google, and the only power that Google has over the site is removing the ads - they can't alter the content of Steem.
Totally right, especially the last thing you said: Neither advertisers nor Google as middleman can alter the content. Technically only Google could, but neither can they legally do that nor do they intend to.
I agree. We don't want Google censoring Steemit. However, using Google to pay Steemit seems good.

Move to busy or some other front end. Steemit isn't your only option. Benefit of decentralization.

ads will bring businesses. without them price of STEEM will only be slowly dying and with price will die traffic
I just worry that ads will have too much influence over what is allowed, the same way it has crushed the horror community on Youtube after the adpocalypse

To be honest, I think that using ads as the primary source of income is a sign of ridiculous dullness and lack of ideas - nothing to celebrate. This is the business model of every average teenager who has a YouTube channel and not a sign for a great future. Excuse my negativity, but we should see this move realistically as a desperate measure of an obvious failure in long term business strategy by STINC.
Sad...doesn't feel special anymore.
I do not think this is needed for steem. There are and should be other ways used to make money with crypto instead of bowing to google and their tracking. As soon as I see the google ads logged in I will leave steemit.com forever. Maybe I develop my own steem client or I will also leave steem. That simple.
