Steemit mass adoption - Little story

in #steemit7 years ago

Hello fellow steemit users,

Little story for you

This was a question that had me thinking after a new user that I had never seen on chat showed up and started asking around about.

He was curious as to how steemit was going to allow for mass adoption but kept bringing up the topic that we may need to find an easier way to get the steemit platform to be accessible without knowledge of things like the block chain and such.

I feel this person might of been trying to communicate something entirely different as he seemed a little unsatisfied with the way things were being run on steemit as to getting a larger audience to accept the platform. Though he came to general chat to pose his 2 cents as if it was a marketing meeting so a little trolling might of caused some discrepancies in his train of thought.

Nonetheless, he seemed to be bashing the fact that the barrier to entry seemed very difficult especially for the younger generations that could view steemit as the new facebook of sorts or at least he very much did come off this way to me.

Chat was just trolling as a complete knowledge of the blockchain nor of its many components weren't necessarily required to join or start using steemit and steemit really is one of the easiest ways to get into the knowledge of this sort of stuff.

What I did not like, even if this weren't this persons intentions, was that it almost seemed like hiding information on how steemit worked or how it runs on the blockchain and such to allow for mass adoption was what his solution was.

The whole network works through crypto currency as an incentive to the platforms evolution and it made me think why hide information on how this whole virtual currency world is starting to make an impact or how it functions just to allow for those who don't really want to deal with any of that to start using the platform?

In reality

I could use steemit in almost its entirety without any knowledge of the block chain and a few accounts to get my steem coins into btc then into usd which steemit users have made several posts about.

You don't need to know jackshit except for a few key notions as to how to behave, protect your account and transfer funds. Which any site or platform with something of monetary value require.

Steemit literally embodies the words "ease of use"

Now younger generations will definitely see that value in steemit itself as a new social media platform of sorts and I can guarantee that most will see it being worth the extra minutes of their life to learn a bit more about something they want to try out.

Others may sway away but the amount of information available to all users is incredibly high with much help within them and I view hiding any such information for the sake of allowing people who don't really understand the concept and don't want to use the platform like a step back rather a step forward.

Because they can still use the platform without knowing all the fancy terminology and such and still get away with creating content on the platform and generating steem.

Mass adoption in a platform like this one is all about time as the idea is great in itself and is growing. The weeds are being taken care of as it grows and the team behind the platform are growing and better understanding their creation.

As markets start to accept the virtual currency world as a thing of the present more and more. We shall see an influx of users onto the platform and a growth in the site itself to allow for the masses to use with even more ease than now and with a better filter for spam and such.

I really feel steemit is a time worthy investment even if you may disagree but simply because the idea behind it is great.

Well that was the end of my rant.

Hope you enjoyed and id love to hear your thoughts.

Just keep building up that SP and it will continue to accrue interest. Certainly one of the best cryptocurrencies to invest in long-term. The platform will continue to prove itself and improve over time.

Well written post @acedt.

Certainly what I see coming from it too. Steem has really started standing out.

Thanks for the comment.

I guess some people are still afraid or skeptical about associating something to crypto.

Nice post.
