Nice work, my man. Personally, I think people are more concerned with being called racist than they actually are about racism. Black Lives Matter stands on the belief that black lives are not given the same measure of value, protection, respect, and justice. And that that is due to a combination of overt racism, and individual/institutional implicit bias. That paradigm challenges the individual belief system of many as well as the American fantasy of pure meritocracy.

Also, it just gets misinterpreted. I have never heard a BLM message saying ONLY black lives matter, or that black lives matter more. But that is what white people hear. And if you get that cleared up, the conversation quickly turns to "then why are you signaling out one group of people." You know where that is coming from? That is coming from the place of feeling "othered." White people hate feeling like there is something they can't have access to--e.g. using the n-word when singing along to a song.

Alright, that's enough rant for now. As you can see, this topic gets me charged.

Cheers.

Definitely appreciate the input! you are spot on!
