Just Do IT!
The Nike advertising slogan "Just Do It" was and remains a hugely successful one. We all make excuses which inevitably leads to procrastination. I will ask that love interest out when I lose some weight. I will go for that promotion when I feel ready. I will lose weight after the holidays. All of those thoughts might be legitimate concerns, but they are all BULLSHIT! When we verbalize those thoughts we are buying into that self defeating BS. let me lay something simple on you that I say to myself and others. "Yesterday is gone, tomorrow is an illusion, NOW is the only thing that is real. The NOW is the only thing that we have control over. So like the Nike ad so eloquently stated it, "JUST DO IT". Whatever changes or improvements that you want to make happen in your life can begin RIGHT NOW! Right this very second make a bold proclamation to yourself that you will "Just Do It". It sounds difficult because you probably have been struggling to make those changes happen in your life. You have come to the right place for both affirmation and confirmation of those life changing proclamations. In my last post, I explained how little changes added up over a period of time WILL result in huge differences in your success. I also promised you a very simple tip that would help you on your journey to a healthier lifestyle. That tip is Cauliflower. This wonderful cruciferous vegetable is slowly becoming a main stream staple in both Western and European diets. Many of you desire a fancy nutritional reason why Cauliflower is a miracle food. Cauliflower is just as rich in phytonutrients as green cruciferous vegetables, and this nutrient richness is exemplified by its glucosinolates. I Borrowed the last paragraph from one of the myriad of health related articles that I am constantly reading. There are all sorts of charts and numbers and nutritional information that we can get bogged down with, so one fancy statement is enough LOL. Remember, My tips are simple. So here are the practical reasons for eating cauliflower. 1) It is almost a zero Calorie food. This means it takes almost as much energy and calories to eat and digest it than the intake of caloric energy from that food. 2) It is full of fiber, very filling and satisfies hunger. 3) It tastes great. 4) It is nutrient rich and extremely good for you. There are many ways that people are utilizing this wonderful vegetable. Chopped Cauliflower is being used instead of Rice in stir fry and other dishes. Cauliflower is showing up in culinary dishes everywhere. Okay, back to the small changes. Here is your assignment after reading this article. Go out and purchase some Cauliflower. This is definitely one of those vegetables where I would pay the extra money for Organic. It's odd shape and texture tend to trap any pesticides used to grow it. So spring for the organic variety and wash it really well. My actual tip is to eat about 4 or 5 nice size pieces of fresh raw cauliflower with blue cheese dressing or your favorite healthy dip. This will be enough food for lunch! How simple is that? Just skip the whole Applebees lunch with the crew for one day. You will save money and time. Instead of 3 or 4 courses of heavy starchy foods that will make you feel blah, this tip will give you 25 or 55 minutes of your break to read, or study that proposal letter. After this experiment, I am betting that you will enjoy your small victory enough to put your own spin on it and repeat it more often. Maybe raw carrots, and skip the restaurant twice a week? You will save time, money and become a little bit healthier by utilizing the small lifestyle changes that I will be sharing with you in my lifestyle posts. Remember, Love Yourself!
