18th Steemit Austria Meetup - My Impressions

Es war wieder einmal ein sehr kalter Tag in Wien, den man erst richtig spürte, sobald man ungeschützt über den Campus der Wirtschaftsuniversität lief. Gerade kam ich von der Vergabe der Bachelorarbeiten, worüber ich mich ganz und gar nicht beklagen konnte. Doch es wartete noch nicht mein warmes Zuhause auf mich, stattdessen machte ich mich auf den Weg zum Steemit Austria Meetup.

Auch wenn ich die U6, aus welchem Grund auch immer, grundsätzlich verabscheue - fand ich erstaunlicherweise sehr schnell hin. In dem kleinen, aber feinen Kaffee angekommen, stellte sich schnell heraus, dass ich der erste Teilnehmer war. Ich fragte also die nette Kellnerin nach dem auf "Steemit-Stammtisch"-reservierten Tisch und setzte mich. Als ich gerade noch eine wichtige E-Mail für eine potentielle Arbeitsstelle an der Universität fertigschrieb, trudelte schon der zweite Gast ein, der von weit her kam: @reiseamateur.

Wir führten ein paar wirklich interessante Gespräche, all unsere Themen kreisten aber letzten Endes um die Steem-Blockchain. Da es auf der Blockchain in den letzten Tagen, Wochen und Monaten immer wieder große Unruhe gab, vermutlich hauptsächlich verursacht durch @ned und Steemit Inc. - munkelten wir über die potentielle Zukunft von Steem. Als bewundernswert merkten wir die dApps wie @appics, @partiko und @steepshot an.

Bald trudelte auch die Hüterin unserer Blockchain, @mammasitta ein und berichtet uns von dem ONO-Projekt - bei der sie eine zeitlang sogar als Superpartner dienen durfte, bevor alle Superpartner aus unerklärlichem Grund unerwartet entlassen wurden. Ein Projekt mit einer guten App aber einer grauenvollen Leitung und viel Zensur. Es kann nicht funktionieren, wenn die Gründer mit aller Kraft gegen die Community arbeiten, dachte ich mir. Besonders bemerkenswert fand ich auch die Geschichten von @thermoplastic, der mit seiner Erfahrung wirklich unglaubliches hier auf der Blockchain leistet.

Ein besonders schönes Gespräch führte ich auch wieder mit @stayoutoftherz, der mir davon erzählte, wie aktiv er wieder sei, obwohl der Wechselkurs derzeit so im Keller ist. Ein wunderschönes Beispiel dafür, dass Geld nicht alles ist - und unsere Blockchain auch einen nachhaltigen Wert in Form einer Community geschaffen hat, dachte ich mir. Bald schloss sich uns auch @vikisecrets an, der ebenfalls regelmäßig auf seinem Account gute Beiträge veröffentlicht. Auch hierüber bin ich wirklich sehr froh, diesen Menschen kennengelernt zu haben, da er eine sehr gute Einstellung zur Welt pflegt und mich mit ein paar Konzepten überzeugen konnte.

Zuguterletzt brachte @manncpt noch @siamcat und @bertille-aa mit zum Stammtisch. Leider kam ich nicht wirklich dazu, mit @siamcat und @manncpt zu reden - obwohl beide sehr interessante Projekte (@globalschool, @fundition.io) führen und an ihnen beteiligt sind, über die ich gerne mehr erfahren hätte. Dafür kam ich mit @bertille-aa mehr ins Gespräch. Wir sprachen über das Studieren, Reisen und hatten auch eine sehr interessante Konversation gemeinsam mit @vikisecrets über die aktuelle politische Situation in Frankreich. Besonders begeistern konnte mich @bertille-aa aber wieder vom alleine Reisen, vom Studieren an anderen Universitäten und von ihrer Lebenseinstellung. Ich sollte doch unbedingt auf Auslandssemester oder ein paar Monate auf Reisen gehen, dachte ich mir letztendlich.

Nachdem @reiseamateur um 20 Uhr wieder abreisen musste, ging es ca. bis 22 Uhr - bis wir uns langsam auflösten und den Heimweg anbrachen. Zuhause angekommen, umgezogen und im warmen Bett liegend dachte ich mir: Danke für die vielen interessanten Personen, die mir heute wieder über den Weg gelaufen sind.

Once again it was a very cold day in Vienna, which you only really felt when you walked unprotected over the campus of the University of Economics and Business. I had just come from the allocation of the bachelor theses topics, which I couldn't complain about at all. But my warm home was not yet waiting for me, instead, I made my way to the Steemit Austria Meetup.

Even though I hate the U6, for whatever reason, I found it surprisingly easy to get there. Arriving at the small but nice coffee, it soon turned out that I was the first participant. So I asked the nice waitress about the table reserved on "Steemit-Stammtisch" and sat down. When I just finished an important email for a potential job at the university, the second guest arrived from far away: @reiseamateur.

We had some really interesting conversations, but in the end, all our topics revolved around the Steem-Blockchain. Since there has been a lot of turbulence on the Blockchain in the last days, weeks and months, probably mainly caused by @ned and Steemit Inc, we rumored about the potential future of Steem. The dApps like @appics, @partiko, and @steepshot are admirable, we concluded.

Soon the mother of our blockchain, @mammasitta, arrived and told us about the ONO project - where she was even allowed to serve as a superpartner for a while before all superpartners were unexpectedly released for inexplicable reasons. A project with a good app but a horrible leadership and a lot of censorship. It can't work if the founders work against the community with all their might, I thought to myself. Especially noteworthy I also found the stories of @thermoplastic, who with his experience really does incredible here on the blockchain.

I had a particularly nice conversation with @stayoutoftherz, who told me how active he was again, although the Steem price is currently so low. A wonderful example that money isn't everything - and that our blockchain has also created sustainable value in the form of a community, I wondered. Soon @vikisecrets, who also regularly publishes good articles on his account, joined us. Again, I'm really happy to have met this person, because he has a very good attitude towards the world and could convince me with a few concepts.

Last but not least @manncpt brought @siamcat and @bertille-aa to the Stammtisch. Unfortunately, I didn't really get to talk to @siamcat and @manncpt - although both have very interesting projects (@globalschool, @fundition.io) and are involved in them, which I would like to know more about. However, I got more into conversation with @bertille-aa. We talked about studying, traveling and also had a very interesting conversation together with @vikisecrets about the current political situation in France. However, @bertille-aa particularly inspired me about traveling alone, studying at other universities and her attitude to life. I should definitely go on a semester abroad or travel for a few months, I thought.

After @reiseamateur had to leave again at 20 o'clock, it went on until 22 o'clock - until we slowly disbanded and started our way home. Arrived at home, changed my clothes and lying in my warm bed I thought to myself: Thank you for the many interesting people who have come across me today.
