Ideas and tricks to teach the child to write
Technological advances lead us to write each day less by hand and more with the mobile, the computer or the tablet. In any case, writing and reading, is still a basic learning for every human being. It is a way to transmit, exchange ideas, express what I feel or communicate.
Learning to write is essential, but be prepared for it too.
Before being able to do it, it is necessary that the child dominates and controls his body, his movements, has a manual of skill and is able to move the hand or a stroke in a desired direction. In any case, there is no problem to learn to write so that yes, but give the child the necessary weapons to do so.
Currently, the beginning of reading and writing is done in Early Childhood Education, when the child is 3, 4 and 5 years old. At this stage, he makes a first contact with the writing that does not imply that at the end of the process he knows how to read and write, but he will be able to draw, he will be familiar with pencils, waxes or pencils and he will have acquired skills with his hands. You can also recognize some letters and even some words like your name.
The way we start to teach a child to write in graphomotor, which is a graphic movement that we do with the hand when writing or drawing. It is about learning to perform some movements with your hand to capture a stroke on a piece of paper and obtain eye-hand coordination in the process.
Some tips that can help the child:
- Prepare a relaxed and calm atmosphere, even with a music that stimulates you for it: fast to make short and smooth strokes for long and undulating.
- Before working with a pencil and a paper it is good that the child starts to draw with the finger in the air, flour or sand, finger paint ...
- Teach the child to take the pencil correctly, to keep it between the fingers and to slide it on the paper.
- To gain manual dexterity, you must work the vertical, horizontal, oblique, circular, zig-zag strokes. At home you can make templates first with dots that the child follows in his path and finally complicate it with two points that the child must join.
- Not putting pressure on the child is essential, the writing process takes 3 or 4 years and each child has his rhythm.
- To learn to write, you do not just have to practice writing. Activities such as drawing, painting, coloring, trimming, doing hobbies such as labyrinths or points, helping the child to develop fine motor skills.
At 6 years of age, the school calendar includes learning to read and write formally. Everything learned earlier in this stage when he began to write complete sentences and even phrases. It can also be read, initially it can be done to gain agility and speed.
