Steem Hunt is a Steem front end where contributors can create awareness for new products , upvote and comment on them and get rewarded for it. It is very much similar to Product Hunt, but the difference is that Product Hunt is centralized and all the rewards go the owners
Steem Hunt was launched Eight Months ago by @tabris (development) and @project7 (design) and they have come a long way in building one of the most Steem used Dapps. Steemhunt is currently the 7th most used Dapp on the Steem Blockchain with over 1.3k Daily users
In the Race for Steem Adoption , there is a need for more Platforms that support short form content as it is not everyone who can run a long form blog like Steemit. This will increase the user base of the STEEM Blockchain over time
I got to know about Steem Hunt three weeks ago when there made their Steem Hunt Token Airdrop for people who use and support the Platform . The Hunt token is an ERC20 Token and there are different ways to earn the tokens.
You can earn the token by delegating SP to Steem Hunt , making posts on the platform and also upvoting and resteeming Steem Hunt Posts . There are also Airdrops slated for those who refer other users
When the Steem Hunt SMT is lauched , the ERC20 token will be exchanged for the HUNT SMT token which can be cashed out or used for other purposes
Now just like most Steem Projects out there , Steem Hunt had humble beginnings , the project Introduction post only made $13 and apart from a resteem from @aggroed there were not much hype behind the project
The only support the Project had in the beginning was Steem Power delegation from @tabris and @project7 which they got from Steem they powered up from their personal savings , and they used it to upvote the top ten daily hunts
As the Steem Power grew and Steem Hunt got more awareness and users they were able to secure more Steem Power delegation which increased the available pool of rewards. They also secured a delegation of over 1 million SP from @ned and then Steem Hunt saw a massive increase of daily users
The Art Of Curation
From Utopian to SteemStem we have seen massive Interest for a Project increase once there is a potential to have a significant increase of earnings from participating in those projects
Now handling curation for these projects is very hard and I quite admire the grit of the Moderators, a lot of people will always look for ways to game the system without first making out time to find out how the system really works , and even if they find out how it works they will always want to take shortcuts
I have always told people that , STEEM is big and growing that with time, a project that will work out for you will eventually come along. A Law student told me that Steem Stem only favours science Students and that Utopian only favours people who are well versed in code and UI/UX
The solution is to find projects that you are inclined with and stick with them. I fell in Love with Steem Hunt the moment I found out about it and I took out more than three hours to read up about finding out how it works and where it is heading to
That never happened with Utopian or Steem Stem. So I advice you that Instead of taking actions that will soil your name all in a bid to earn rewards , find out projects that you understand and build your personal brand there , with time you will get reward for it
Steem Hunt currently uses a diversity score method to rank hunted product and this is their latest weapon that was Introduced to combat those who game the system
At first they made use of the traditional Steem ranking system where posts with the highest payouts rank on top and those with lower payouts rank much lower.
There were a lot of complaints under the system from a lot of Hunters who claimed that the system only enriched Whales and that Minnows never stood a chance to benefit from Steem Hunt Upvotes . To counter this many people started to make use of voting bots and with time ranking was just based on how much upvotes you can buy
This defeated the purpose of the Hunts as people did not put much effort in really Hunting out Cool products
BidBot votes were later disallowed and the Steem Hunt Team started to work on Account Based Voting (ABV) which aims was to bring a level of equality on the Steem Hunt platform
ABV was intiated 10 days ago and with this it no longer mattered whether you are a Whale or a Minnow, all votes were equal on the platform. Post Promotion was also disallowed to maintain fairness. As votes gotten from Post promotion did not Imply the coolness of the products
The team also knew that if post promotion is allowed that it may encourage the building of Upvote rings and this will also defeat the core purpose of the platform
The ABV system did not record self upvotes and also only connted votes that were made from the Steem Hunt Dapp itself and not Steemit . This meant that those who were on Curation Trails will not see an Increase of their Hunt Score from Trail votes
The upvotes were also weighted based on Steemit Reputation score to prevent fake voters as people could used mass inactive accounts to score votes for themselves
There was also an Introduction of a Blacklist where defaulters were added and this meant a ban period of thirty days and the possibility of permanent ban for repeat and consistent offenders
Recent happenings shows that this was not successful as there has been a lot of reports that led to accounts being blacklisted. Steem Hunt is currenting working on Algorithms like IP address and Cookies monitoring to fish out multiple accounts
There is a current bounty to reward those who report people who game the system . Hunters are also now free to make use of Bid Bots as it no longer affects ranking of products
The current Diversity score method also reduces the Upvote power of those who repeatedly vote on the same account daily. This means that if you vote on the same set of account on a dailly basis your vote power will eventually become Zero no matter the level of Reputation you have
You can read more on Diversity Scoring Here
Steem Hunt Rules
Steem Hunt Rules are easy to follow in my Opinion and they are very necessary to prevent Spam and also in my Opinion to preserve the Intergrity of the Platform
Projects on Steem like Steem Hunt which receive massive delegations on Steem tend to get a lot of scrutiny from the community and the developers always need to be on their toes to prevent any mishap or abuse
You can view the full Steem Hunt Rules Here and they are quite clear and easy to follow in my opinion
I will also advice you to Hunt if you only you truly want to and not just for the rewards. Over the past few weeks of my hunting. I have started to build some form of Networks with the people I feature their products on Steem Hunt.
And if you don't know where to get products to feature on your Hunts , Product Hunt and KickStarter is a good place to start
I hope that I have been able to make you see a picture of how Steem Hunt works with this post.

I 100% agree in finding something that has potential and being one of the endless factors in making it even more amazing. I find myself sometimes in the early stages of this or that. Sometimes things work out great. Other timers not so much but people tries until they just lack the energy anymore.
I see far too many people jumping around trying cash in on whatever is popular. By then everyone knows about and wants to get in on the actions as well. There are those who want be near the start of something and grow it and those that just want walk up and snatch the fruit right off the tree without putting in any effort.
The real way to path to reaping the fruit is to put in the work and create Long term Value.
Most people are not that patient though....
@enjar
I'm rarely as patient as I should be. The trick is to plant the harvest in stages so you always have something next to look forward to enjoying. I've never been so great at that either. At the very least we must try.
I like the steemhunt project, earlier today a steemian, @tfame3865 was talking to me about the project. I'm happy they've finally gotten some well deserved recognition.
Yeah the Steem Hunt team put in a lot of work to make the project stand
@greenrun
This is a full Compendium of what steemhunt actually is about, i wish i had read this before being blacklisted.
I will advice you to Learn all you can and also Interact with the community in Discord. By the end of Thirty days you will be ready.
I want to be ready too
