Steemhunt, it’s not about the hunts. It’s about HUNT.
Not just those free HUNT tokens you get during the airdrop either. Well they play a part of course, a big part.
In few months only since Steemhunt announced its airdrop the platform has come a long way. Sadly enough tho, much of the efforts of put into dealing with “Steem typical things” has so far delayed many of the other plans and milestones.
While many a Steemian, some too many probably, have been focused on how to milk maximize their SBD and STEEM earnings by hunting on Steemhunt, the platform has had to make needed improvements, even a minor pivot, to actual focus. That in order to minimize the maximization by few.
A compulsory change.
A good change.
A great change thinking forward and ahead.
Steemhunt isn’t just about the hunts
A change distributing more rewards to more people than just a few.
Currently it seems that many people still are limited by their Steem rewards thinking but Steemhunt will be much more. Steemhunt is about the HUNT economy which will be created going forward.
A whole new alternative economy, based on cryptocurrency and blockchain.
A place to earn, find, and spend.
Or similar to the now infamous Steemit’s evil plan for Cryptocurrency Domination post by @Dan .
Right now many new tokens all are focused on specific tasks, yet very few actually have an economy focus. Too many tokens, and thus blockchains, seem to be merely an alternative to the “Yet another startup platform” but on blockchain. On a ledger. Often a fast ticket to much more and easier funding thanks to ICOs, easier than traditional venture funding in the internet world.
Where cryptocurrency, the specific token, more often than not merely an other payment method is.
Steemhunt’s targeted HUNT economy, just like @dan’s “evil plan”, differ in this because they offer people, users, everyone the opportunity to earn on the platform and to find items (or services) to spend their earnings on, creating even more earners.
Once you have a highly functional currency, a robust community and market place, and lots of content to bring in new users, you are ready to start building robust smart contracts and side chains around these assets.
Currently Steemhunt is building its community, the place where people can earn HUNT tokens. Tokens which aren’t necessarily created to be traded, instead to be spent. Spent on a marketplace.
Maybe on an ideahunt.
ideahunt: a Kickstarter-like platform where makers run crowdfunding campaigns for hunters
Maybe Steemhunt may even host an actual third-party marketplace, where people can buy items with HUNT tokens. Maybe an Etsy-alike clone.
Steemhunt isn’t about hunts, not just about hunts.
Next time you check how many HUNT tokens you received, after ranking window reset, and wonder what will be the value of 1 HUNT and when you will be able to trade them, maybe instead you should realize that those awesome products you have hunted or curated, they may soon drive new jobs.
Turn creative idea people who manage to build a prototype in the most popular item posted to Gizmodo or The Verge that month.
Not just another token you can not wait to cash in on Bittrex.
Steemhunt is on the road to build an economy, a HUNT economy. A place to earn and spend. HUNT is not just another token to trade, HUNT is a token which will allow you to actually buy things with. Physical things or digital items/services.
It isn’t just about the hunts and the SBD rewards you need every week.
There’s more to Steemhunt than the naked eye sees.
The future HUNT economy.
Oh man. You got me at A place to earn, find, and spend., Just here thinking how awesome it would be to get myself a go pro with my hunt tokens. I totally love how you have shed some light on what the platform is all about, as always.
If not from HUNT, definitely from 1% frontrun upvotes which do nothing for those you upvote. :P
"I'm new to Steemit and just did my introduction post! So happy to meet and follow new people ! Looking forward to more awesome posts from you!
On Steem irrelevant self-referrential only comments like this are considered spam. Others may downvote you for this.
I will also next time you leave a comment like this on my account.
"Maybe Steemhunt may even host an actual third-party marketplace, where people can buy items with HUNT tokens."
That's an interesting idea.
I really like the dedication of the Steemhunt team. You guys really want this to succeed and it is refreshing to see such effort being put into this being a longterm project - a HUNT economy like you say.
Thanks, Direwolf.
The team is ultra-dedicated and they definitely did their home work before starting. If it were down to me I could only say ‘HODL on!’.

I'm going to have to dig more into this. Completely new to this entire little community that you are building and it intrigues me. Found it when looking at some of @karamyog's posts.
Honestly the biggest issue I have with pretty much all crypto is you can't buy anything with them. Just need a little time to come back and figure out what you are doing exactly with the finding items and so forth. More commenting so I don't loose this post then anything.
