Hunter's comment

A device that can generate, store, encrypt and decrypt GPG keys by itself.

This is a kind of device that prove that data can be safely stored without being hacked by hackers or intruders. This is what am going to buy next

Purism is doing a good job in terms of security and privacy of the user. I'm waiting for the librem 5 phone which is planned to launch next summer.

I wonder how this compares to the Nitrokey.

I have never used Nitrokey to tell the difference.

I have and it definitely seems to have more features, depending on the version you get, e.g. storing certificates, GUI interface, open source hardware, storing several passwords, using it as a smart card, etc.

Sounds great, can you provide the link for the official website? So that I can check that out.

Thanks. Germany has some serious privacy concerns, so this must be secure.

Just gonna add this here which is a quote from the last newsletter of Nitrokey titled "Nitrokey Partners With Purism to Build the Librem Key" which was just send out:

The Librem Key is a relabeled Nitrokey Pro 2 and except the logo both are identical. As you know, the device can be used for email encryption with GnuPG and S/MIME, two-factor authentication, file and disk encryption, and SSH authentication. In addition to that, the Nitrokey Pro/Librem Key serves as a part of the tamper-evident boot protection which Purism integrates into their Librem laptops.

Here's an interview with Purism's Chief Security Officer about the Librem Key (also shows that they use and worked with Nitrokey):

Thanks for the video.
