Steemhouse Publishing: Richmond VA, Author Events, and Great Ideas
Richmond, Virginia, was our most rewarding travel investment to date. Not only is it a city filled to the brim with arts and culture, but it’s also a featured setting in High Kill, the debut publication from Steemhouse Publishing and third novel by Diane Ryan.
We visited several bookstores, including The Fountain bookstore on East Carey Street where we also attended a very fortuitous Appalachian author event there with Valerie Nieman and Clifford Garstang. The Richmond Public Library was also a focus for us, as librarian Meg Raymond is currently working hard to build a platform for local authors.
A very different end product is starting to emerge than the one we envisioned early in the Steemhouse journey. While we still have an eye on specialized dapps with the writer in mind as well as a dedicated front end for high quality literature on the blockchain, we’ve also developed some solid ideas about how to reward and encourage reader involvement. CONGRATULATIONS on the book tour and publishing ventures and looking forward to more details on new kinds of reader involvement! I'm still loving the Kindle Highlights shared to Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads, even though I stopped sharing, because Amazon purged every review I ever wrote and still hasn't restored my "privilege" of investing my time writing reviews, promoting authors whose books I bought via Amazon. They are punishing so many other people for whatever unspecified "violation" I committed.
I am still furious about what Amazon did to you, one of their finest Vine Voice reviewers. You are not wrong to be outraged by this.
I'm still outraged by the SEED trailer contest!!! And yet we continue to do business with Amazon. The behemoth has us in its maw.
