What a mmorpg can make you feel? Pt2
The next mmo where I had a lot of fun and meet way a bunch of people was 2moons (known in Korea as dekaron), like any other kr mmo this is a grind fest but for its time had really amazing graphics and also a nice aoe systems with nice animations, but the main point of the game was the pvp of every kind; duels, sieges, an daily event/dungeon (dead front) in what 4 parties would enter in different paths, you needed to clear it as fast as possible killing hordes of mobs at the end all the parties that managed to survive would face each other until just one would remain, and as the last and maybe the more fun pvp in that game was the pk (forced pvp in open world), I meet so many people from all over the world in this game, but also was the first time for me finding so many players of my country (Venezuela), that was back in 2007~8 and I still have contact with many of them and even I still play daily with a small group that I meet in that game.
To be honest this is one of the game where I had more fun, even grinding was fun for me but maybe was becuase of the people sharing this experience with me, the game had a music player built in, so you only needed to paste your music in a folder and you could play it while playing without tabbing, to this day I can’t listen lacuna coil without remember 2moons, the maps, the dungeons and the friends that I meet there.
Of course, not every game that I played was a big thing for me, like probably 99% of the mmo players, I tried a lot of games, but you know only a few clicked in the way to make you enjoy the game for years and share it with other people.
To this date the game where I had more immersion, was Requiem. The whole world was dark and forbidding, instead of being like every other mmo where you (kinda) start killing ponies, spiders and all is shinny, here was like always cloudy and dangerous, the mobs were real monsters, it also have a special times/hours in game when nightmare mobs would spawn in different spots, this systems is not unique to this game but the difference here is that those mobs were truly dangerous, some of them would kill you in one shot of a bad pull would mean the death (and exp lost).
Requiem also has a lot of gore and while you or the mobs lose hp the characters would become covered in blood, even if the game wasn’t full of npc somehow the developers managed to make it feel alive, even on some big cities that only had the basic and the quest npc, at least for me the world of this game was really interesting. The pvp and pk was more of less balanced, like most game it has different themed arenas y the pvp/gpvp for spots was a big thing, some of my friend from 2moons went to play requiem with me, even my girlfriend that for that time I have been teaching her how to play and bringing her to the mmo’s, was in this game that I saw how she also liked a lot the pvp and how proud she was when she was able to kill me in a duel or arena.
Even now I still follow the social media of Requiem and many days have been thinking of maybe come back to play, I won’t find any of the people that I used to know there but who knows, maybe I meet some new friends.
There is any old mmo or game that you think you will enjoy if you play it again?
