Yes, it was never intended to be a long term system. And the current one will continue to evolve as well.
Yes, that would be a great addition to the game. It is something I have to look into first as Steem-engine isn't that familiar to me. There are other plans as well for the token, if that route is the one that'll be taken. Hashing out the whole plan will take some time though.
