RE: SteemFolio - How to Participate and a Stake Update

in #steemfolio8 years ago

Hi acidyo, can I check a couple of things regarding steemfolio please? You/cryptochannel make steemfolio posts and those currently with stake or anyone else can upvote the posts. The post rewards are split 50/50 between SP and Steem, the steem is then used to make crypto investments, the SP is used to upvote comments in the steemfolio posts which then award stake to commenters at one stake per valid comment (maximum of one stake per steemfolio post per account.)

For the post rewards the participating accounts collectively receive a stake weighted percentage of 10% of all the steemfolio SP, liquid steem and crypto investments. The participating accounts are encouraged to continually make comments to ensure they can maintain their stake in the 10% as the number of stakes is increasing over time based on the steemfolio upvotes that award additional stake at your discretion.

For this service, your crypto investment skill, the information you provide in your posts, initial startup SP and other overhead costs you take 90% of the steemfolio portfolio. Is all that correct so far?

Do I need to upvote the steemfolio posts in order to qualify for stake or just make a comment in the steemfolio posts?

I will assume for now that the post upvote is required to qualify for additional stake as it is the source of capital for the steemfolio account SP and the crypto investments. In that case, an account upvoting the posts with a large amount of SP is providing a greater percentage of total post reward for the same stake as someone providing a smaller percentage.

If I have this all correct (and i apologise if I've missed something or have it wrong) then your steemfolio service seems expensive relative to the risks, stakeholder levels of control, fairness of stake weighting and stake inflation.

I commend you for your efforts to add value, distribute information and generate discussion but with the current structure of your project, unless you can explain where I'm misunderstanding it, I feel I'd just be providing a source of funds for you to control, invest and make returns from.

I don't think there is anything wrong or dishonest with your project or approach but I think there will be many of these kinds of projects, where steem accounts are given incentives to use their post rewards not just for quality content, but for a promise of return or as an investment for a fee. I would like to see that awareness and competition ensure these projects are as efficient, fair, safe and beneficial to the steem economy as possible. These kinds of projects have a way of rapidly centralising SP, therefore who is in control of that SP and how it is used is of vital importance.

I'll wait until you've had a chance to respond but I think, at this time, my rewards are put to better use elsewhere. Should that remain the case, please feel free to distribute my stake among your other participants.
