Dear friends,

in just a few hours I'm heading to Kroków to attend my third Steemfest. While I don't know, if I will have enough time to regularly post from the event, here are some last minute tips provided by my son (who visited Kraków before), that I want to share with you.

Kazimierz District

Generally to get some Krakow Vibe, you should walk through the old town and Kazimierz (traditional Jewish quarter). Of course these are all a bit longer distances to walk, but you can get around with tram (very cheap) and taxi (relatively cheap). And when you take the tram, you can also see something of the city ;)

Famous old place in the heart of the district: Yyou can get fast and cheap food there (e.g. famous sandwiches) and if you like to have a drink (so far the best Whiskey Sour of my life) in a very nice ambience, you have to go to the Alchemia Bar. There are also concerts and co, but also simply the bar.

Alchemia Bar

One of Kraków's most evocative bars, the aptly-named Alchemia perfectly captures the sepia candlelight, forgotten photographs and antique intrigues of the former Jewish district. A dim bohemian cafe by day, in the evenings Alchemia's murky mystique metamorphoses blood into beer for the ruddy regulars and excitable tourists queuing before the indifferent bar staff. The cellar, when it's not being used as a student disco, plays host to some of the best concerts in town and is a prime participant in annual jazz and klezmer festivals, and the adjacent Alchemia od Kuchni serves a full menu of excellent eats until 23:00 (24:00 Fri & Sat). Essential in every way.

Youmiko Sushi

Very, very good Sushi! Best to be there 20min before the shop opens ;)

Why locals love it
Hidden away down an alley right off of the busy city center you'll find the small hidden gem that is Youmiko Sushi. The fish is always fresh and never frozen. The staff is very accommodating and you can have your sushi almost any way you like it. The place has a hipster vibe with frequent events involving music, art, etc.

Pierogies

Generally famous and recommendable to eat, pierogies. You can find them at almost every corner. The shop I remember is here (in the old town). There is even a Pierogi festival in Kraków that occurs on the Day of St. Hyacinth. I just loved walking around the city. The very old houses in contrast to Soviet/ Eastern Block monumental buildings are just stunning.
