Steemfest Friday Report - Marketing and Community Building
It's busy here. Everyone's hustling or preparing for their talks. Lots of excitement in the air. And beer! I'm a bit hungover from yesterday.
Posts about all the fun will have to wait. Here's a quick sum up of some major talks. I apologize if I don't respond to comments, I don't have my usual set up here. Also, have you seen that Bitcoin fly!? Amazing!
@dollarvigilante did a concise speech abut why he loves Steemit and how he sees the team could make it better. Two things really: improving the technical side, how it looks and how it acts which would allow allow for the marketing to really go forward. I liked his view on how people get attracted to new ideas. He says Steemit.inc should hire celebrities to advocate it. At this moment, any advertisement would be nice, really. As long as we don't get more DDOS, or similar issues. A massive turn off to new users
The whole Steemit team gathered for Q&A. @sneak did the most of the talking. I noticed one interesting phrase 'firehoze effect' of new posts. they reassured us they are looking into ways to make 'the quantity of content manageable and they are doing their best efforts nothing gets lost. It's what keeps them up at nights' That would really help users to get some views when they are new with no followers. The idea of communities. Probably something in the line how @jesta's ChainBB forum works right now.
@quinneaker gave an intro speech on Friday. He got quite emotional on stage. Shows how much the people are committed to Steemit.
@hansikhouse and @voronoi talked about steempark project and @sndbox. Their idea is how to monetize the whole process of creative effort not just the ultimate rewards which sometimes don't even come for the artist. They focus not just on the art, anything dealing with creativity and community building in real life. They collect all their funds through Steemit. Their newest idea is to make the block chain a place marking realm with the use of Smart Media Tokens. You do something somewhere and you mark it on google maps sort of thing.
That's it for today. Tomorrow is less about the talks and more about exploring the city and building rapport with fellow Steemians. I wish you were here. It's awesome!
