Useful Phrases in Portuguese if You Are Going to Steem Fest
In a couple of days @exyle and I will be heading to Lisbon for Steem Fest. We can't wait to get there!
When we travel to German or Belgium he's the one who always orders, ask for information, etc. When we go to Italy I try my best, in France we always need a translator (online); but going to Portugal isn't a problem to me.
Portuguese is also the official language in Brazil, this way I am the one who asks, order and so. Exyle can speak a little of Portuguese, that's true, but I do the work mostly.
If you are going to Steem Fast and want to make sure you know few senteces to sound more respectful or polite, here go some tips:
Don't get confused by the acute accent, you are probably reading in the proper way, if not, people might understand you anyway.
You can ask this in English, most people in Portugal speak English, but if you want to try it, ask someone Tudo Bem?
If you are good too, just answer in the same way: estou bem! simple as that.
Portugueses are the English people of Portuguese, they speak very politely. Don't forget to say good morning/after/evening before asking something.
:)
again
I'm not sure if this is 100% correct, but that's ALSO good night in brazilian portuguese.
Something you can say when Steem Fast is over ;(
Yay, best Portuguse sentence! Time to eat, peeps! And yes, it's pretty similar to French, easy peasy!
Of course I do, how dare you?
Alright, I forgive you. But don't ask again!
Just like good mornings and cia, always say please, another magic word.
Oh, important thing: boys say obrigado, girls say obrigada. Something I remember listening at school when I was a kid. But it really doesn't matter nowadays ;)
I know in some countries is not big deal to answer a Thank You, but in Portuguese is very polite to.
These are just few senteces you can try in Portugal, don't worry about your accent, probably in Portugal they already know when someone is a foreigner and what they meant by any word. If you don't feel comfortable speaking a language you don't know, just speak English, they do speak English too.
By the way, I will be at Steem Fest and if I can help with anything when it comes to translation, don't hesitate to ask me :)
Thanks for reading... I mean... Obrigada por ler!
Até logo!

Similar to Spanish, but some differences I need to remember too!
See you next week :D
Yeah cool thanks, I think it's a bit similar indeed, but don't tell this to portugueses and brazilians, they might get mad at you lol
See you soon! woohoo
Usefull post for all attendees of Steemfest 2. You should label yourself so people know to find you for advice on the language. On the other hand....if you walk next to Exyle, there would be no need for an extra label I suppose.
Hey! That's a good tip! I'll try to do it, might be helpful :) I plan to walk with him, not sure if the other way round lol
cheers
