The way this chip works is to help heal people with conditions such as memory loss, hearing loss, paralysis, blindness, brain damage, depression and anxiety.

Launching from Fox8 , Musk tried it on Gertrude, a pig, by implanting a chip in his brain. The graphic displayed on the screen shows the waves in Gertrude's brain firing as his brain communicates with his muzzle while eating.

Musk said it was a healthy and happy pig, and the chip could read signals from all of Gertrude's limbs. The Link VO.9, a device the size of a coin that will fit into the skull and will actually replace a piece of the skull.

There is a mask in the form of tape not part of the device, but is used to protect the delicate wires that will connect to the brain after being implanted. "It's a lot more complicated than this, but the simplified version is like a Fitbit in your brain with tiny wires," Musk said.

For your information, Fitbit is a company from the United States (US) that produces wearable devices such as activity trackers and smartwatches.

Another interesting thing, VO.9 Link will be able to connect and communicate with someone's cellphone. Currently the company is working on human trials, and is waiting for the necessary approvals.

The technology available today includes something called "Deep Brain Stimulation". By inserting a small number of electrodes into your brain, but unable to read or write much information.

NeuraLink was founded by Musk in 2016 with the aim of exploring and researching what connects the human brain to computer technology. Musk said the technology he created helped more than 150,000 people.
