The Troubles Of A Nigerian Youth

in #steemeet7 years ago

I won't blame the yahoo boys, the prostitutes, the hawkers, the beggars or those who steal to feed themselves.
Imagine after 4-5 years of Bsc. , a graduate is left to feed himself, pay his bills without a job. Fine some people would say start up a business but without opportunities or available capitals how do we expect one to start it.
I was in a cab recently, where i was having an interactive session with the cab driver and he mentioned how he struggled to attain his ONd,HNd and Back., but he ended up saving for a cab. I understand the fact that some youths want or search for the easiest way to get money. But has anyone really sat one of them down to ask what they've gone through at that period of their lives.
I'm not trying to make illegal conducts seem right but as a youth that I am, it's not easy living in a country where about 5000 students gratude from a university let alone all universities and less than 1000 are employed the other 4000 are left with no jobs then the next year preparation for another set to leave the school starts.
If we have enough skill acquisition programmes or activities, creation of more job opportunities especially for the youths, good education systems ,etc what would then hinder the reduction in crime rates in our country ?
