There is no stairs it's a bungalow.
He could've kicked the ball against the wall and it bounced back.
No stairs in a bungalow it has 1 floor.

Q.2 The boy would kick the ball upwards against about 5 ft away. The ball would travel 10 ft ( 5 to and fro)
The answer to your questions are as follows.
Mrs Johns bungalow has no stairs; because bungalows do not have a second floor or even a third. Bungalows have only one floor, there can be no stairs!
There is only one possible way that the boy must have possibly kicked the ball 10ft in a way that it will come back on its own. I say he kicked it up into the air.
