How can we expand SteemClub-UK to grow numbers and improve retention?

in #steemclub-uk5 years ago (edited)

So far SteemClub-UK has been a bit of a loose concept.

We have had a couple of Virtual Meetups under the banner, we have done a bit of delegation and voting, we've done some networking and got to know each other a bit.

We can also hang out in witness @c0ff33a's Brits Discord server...

Could we do more with SteemClub-UK?

Are there other ways we could build on the SteemClub model to grow the number of steemians in the UK, and to help keep them active on the platform?

A few possible ideas...

  • more Virtual Meetups

  • more real life Meetups around the country

  • a more structured curation program

  • 'classified ads' posts for SteemClub members

  • virtual pub quizzes with prizes !

  • a SteemClub-UK buddy/mentoring system for new members

  • a SteemClub-UK promotional project

  • maybe even a SteemClub-UK promo-film (@ashtv, @rod.crisafulli, @basilmarples...)

  • a SteemClub-UK steem shop (like Homesteaders Coop)

  • a SteemClub-UK charity / fundraising project (maybe for a homeless or old people project)

  • attending crypto events as SteemClub-UK to promote Steem and projects like 3Speak, Oracle-D, Splinterlands.

These are just a few ideas to kick around, to see if anyone is interested.

Would any of them be worthwhile? Anyone interested in helping organise any of them?

Anyone got any other suggestions?

These ideas are generally low-cost or free, but could probably be done better with funding.

Maybe the new Steem Proposal System might be a possible source of funding.

I would love to hear your thoughts, feedback and other ideas.

Thank you.

We could organise fights between cities?

No fair. We all know how tough the Scots are!

Lol, maybe drunk instead of tough, :0)

That's why they have no fear is it?

Glad I live in the countryside...

Cool - so the concept, I guess, is to attract brand new UK based users and keep them here by offering a fun and rewarding community for them to be a part of?

I think that could really work for a promo video..
We can play on the UK element and references, make it easy to understand and aim it at people interested in getting in to crypto, investing and the social aspect.
If someone like @basilmarples could act as the face of the message then that could be ace.

Yes we can build on and build up the community aspect.

A promo video like this sounds like it is heading in an excellent direction.

@basilmarples are up for this?

They all sound like really good ideas!

Virtual meet ups are handy unless we could somehow offer some help for trains for some people depending on the distance etc.

I'd be happy to help if I can with what time I do have.

Great thanks @pumpkinsandcats.

Yes travel costs do become significant when we are all so far apart.

I like the idea of a buddy system to help keep people on board as they get their head around things. It is a huge place and even 18 months on the platform, I feel overwhelmed sometimes by what goes on here!

Inviting new users in to the discord would be a great start point. Perhaps incentivise with steem basic income to keep them posting?

But a marketing video will need to explain why should people be coming to steem? I have a few UK members in the EMA Discord (Electronic Music Alliance) that I converted over after being spread every where and too thin so am mentoring them and will invite in to the steem club UK Discord

Inviting them to the Discord would be a good starting point.

Are any of them posting on steem yet? Should I add any of them to the UK Steemians list?

It looks like you have most of them on the list already but might not be in the Discord

@atomcollector, @skaarl, @theturtleproject. @digitaltraffic (Scotland I think?) @tripmusic (may have given up on crypto) @winkandwoo @dnpq ...

Thanks for these. I have added @dnpq. Is @digitaltraffic still active?

Not sure about active on steem but is on twitter so could reach out but these guys are in @emalliance and they are focusing on steem for music now

Meet ups resonate best for me. Perhaps in regions. I live in East Anglia now and it'd be cool to know others nearby. To get others onto the platform I mainly tell others about 'monetising my blog', that peaks peoples interest on a peer basis.

Have you connected with @basilmarples - he is in Norfolk ?

Lots of great ideas.

We've got some changes coming up with the hardfork which could hit some of the smaller accounts hard, so communities pulling together will be what helps them through. I don't suppose anyone knows at what sort of SP level votes would have to reach to get a post into the earning zone? I've got some earnings to power up and I'm wondering about adding some more delegations to community accounts to help boost then to a point where they can make that difference.

The next few weeks are going to be interesting...

I'm looking to boost the SP of the @steemclub-uk account to help support more people.

I''d say
a SteemClub-UK steem shop (like Homesteaders Coop)

a SteemClub-UK charity / fundraising project (maybe for a homeless or old people project) 💯🐒
