Dear brothers of @steemchurch welcome the challenge of Goldencenser # 2 on this occasion I will share a powerful word plague, in fact it is one of the words with promise in the bible, it is in exodus 20.

Remember the 5th Commandment: Honour your father and mother. Always! [Exodus 20]

“That was a simple commandment from God, written with his own hand, and delivered by Moses to them; It was of a moral nature, and eternal obligation: and to be better understood, it does not only refer to that high esteem in which children carry their parents in the heart, and respectful language, appropriate gestures that are used towards them, as well as the cheerful obedience that will be given to them; but also refers to honoring them with their substance, feeding them, dressing them and supplying them with what is necessary for life, when they are in need; which is for all the service, for all the care, expense and problems that have been presented to them, as well as having raised them in this world ”(John Gill's Exposition of the Entire Bible, Dr. John Gill 1690-1771)

Honoring parents involves high esteem, reverence and help. It means being there watching them, taking care of them. Compared to the other commandments, where no specific promise is attached directly, God, in giving this commandment also added a certain promise. He said: "Honor your father and your mother, so that your days may be long in the land that Jehovah your God gives you." But it didn't end there. In Deuteronomy 5:16 comes the same commandment but with an additional promise attached:

Deuteronomy 5:16
"Honor your father and your mother, as Jehovah your God has commanded you, so that your days may be prolonged, and that you may do well on the land that Jehovah your God gives you."

Children owe honor, obedience and love to their parents, but sometimes these three things are separated, the desire of God is to go together, but we will see the reasons why sometimes they are separated.

-Children must honor, obey and love their parents when their parents love God and teach them to love and obey God and their advice is based on God's advice.

-when parents do not love or obey God, children should always honor and love their parents, but they should only obey them when what they are taught, asked or advised does not oppose God's advice.

-Children who already have their own family should love and honor their parents with the way they run their family, but obedience is not the same type. Jesus was an example of this.

As a child:

... and was subject to them ... Luke 2:51

To sum up:

It is a command from God to honor our parents with all that honor can include. The commandment to honor our parents is the first commandment with promise and indeed what promise: Live long on earth and do well! Most people would want nothing more than this! Well, that is the promise. It is not unconditional! It is conditional and will be granted to those who honor their parents. This commandment was so important that he who spoke something bad about his parents would die. Yes, today we live under the age of grace but the commandment of the Lord and His promise are there.
