Money gives us security

We want security. Be it about our physical integrity, our emotions, our relationships, or whatever. We want to be protected against the alternations that are characteristic of our lives, we want to be protected from tomorrow and its evils.

This fear of the uncertain, that fear of accidents has different results in each one of us. Some of us look for a routine life to the extreme, so that we do not take any risk. Others are treated as fragile luminaries, so that no evil befalls them. But, among all, the most recurrent alternative is the search for money.

Money makes things easier. He eliminates queues in health posts, bureaucracies in judicial processes, eliminates bad business, by the zeal of lawyers or counselors. Money in a certain way protects and protects our assets and families.

And I say, if it's for security, your search for money is completely rational, logical and effective. But I would like to tell you that the "security" you are looking for is not enough. And that there is a more excellent way to be sought, as the preacher of Ecclesiastes teaches us:

Wisdom protects how it protects money; but the benefit of wisdom is that it gives life to its possessor. Ec 7.12

With every choice we make in our lives, we have to weigh pros and cons. So that we have the certainty that we choose.

For example, when drinking a cup of tea in the morning, I must attempt two options: sugar and sweetener. The sugar is much tastier, the sweet remains for hours, but it spoils the teeth and can be harmful to the stomach. The sweetener does well to the stomach, however it has an unpleasant taste in the end.

You and I can have different ways to get protection and security. But, as in all elections in our lives, we must try for the pros and cons. The money will bring security. Yes! Even the Bible says it! But, on the other hand, wisdom, in addition to security, brings life.

Some may judge me for being Christians and not seek, in the first place, security. Maybe they can criticize me for not seeking, first of all, the tranquility. And maybe they are safe because Christianity seeks, in the first place, life.

And wisdom, life, is in finding Christ. He is the one who, through his regenerative action in our lives, gives us a new way of walking, of acting, thinking and a new reason to love our neighbor, in spite of his imperfections, and in this way we find something that is nothing, money , can give us: life, in its fullness.

Money is security, yes. But look for something more than security, look for life, which is only found in Jesus Christ.
