POWER OF A BROKEN LIFE
In this post we are entering deep waters of this message.
Brokenness is a pre-requisite for being a true Christian soldier.
This post will teach you result-oriented ways to escape from spiritual stagnancy.
SURFACE CHRISTIANITY
Psalm 42:7 King James Version (KJV)
"Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me."
Only deep people can understand the deep thing of God . A lot of Christian understand the surface things of God but the deep things of God may not be clear. To find the deep things of God you will have to dig deep, valuable materials like gold or Precious stones can't be found floating on the surface of the ground, you will have to dig deep to find them, the same thing is with God.
The greatest spiritual deficiency of the last days in the life of many is superficial, living a surface life. Living a life that is not deep. The greatest problem of our present day Christians.
Surface Christians are the type that attend all church services but the church is not in them, God has not done a deep work in them,every thing about them is superficial, the things of God is of little importance to them. They are the type that read their bible for reading sake and pray to God for praying sake, because if they don't pray what they want won't work. They memorise the bible for show and deceive themselves.
It is worthy to note that people say God knows those that will enter heaven but the reality and only truth is that if you are deep with God you will know, except you want to deceive yourself. They are the type that attend church to cure headache, re-unite their homes, get lots of money, become comfortable and drive different cars, these are the surface Christians, ever shallow in spiritual matters.
Surface Christians are the type that have been born again for ten to fifteen years and yet can't pray on their own, but rely on their pastor on very thing.
Their prayers goes thus like this:
O Lord provide for me
O Lord let me build my own house
O Lord let me buy my own car.
Always asking God do this, God do that. Surface Christians don't bother to ask God what is required for His kingdom to move forward and depopulate the children of hell. Surface Christians break down easily once they encounter petty issues, but the deep ones will immediately pray to God for intervention.
TRUE BROKENNESS
This means to live beyond the surface but into the depth.
God has secrets which are only revealed to few people, meaning when you are broken you don't have to pray before God reveals things of the spirit realm to you.
Here is a story is help enlighten us. I heard this story from my father in the Lord.
A sister was planning for marriage and she prayed and a brother came. A day came as they were praying, she saw a vision about the brother leaving his physical body and going into the waters, immediately he got there he took a dark key and returned to his body. The sister ended the prayers and all of a sudden said to the brother
"WHERE ARE YOU COMING FROM?"
The man said to her that he didn't know she was spiritually powerful. The sister was very deep. If she was not deep she would have married a man with a dark key who would have locked her life up.
True brokenness is what will allow you penetrate into the spiritual realm, it makes you see the deep of the spirit, it makes you see the shallowness and the hollowness of this world.
When you are truly broken it will have a transforming effect on your relationship with others like your spouse, siblings, friends and neighbours.
When you are truly broken it will be obvious that something has happened to you.
True brokenness will liberate all that is holding down your inner man and you will be free in spirit.
True brokenness will deliver you from slavery, selfish interest and imprisonment.
I don't know how long you have been yearning for a deeper life with Christ. You are tired of Christianity at the surface. You want to experience the things you read of your bible You long for the theoretical aspects of the Bible and don't seem to experience it, well I have good news for you. The basic requirements for progress for anyone who wants to grow is one thing and it's found in the book of psalms.

As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.
My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?
CHARACTERISTICS OF A BROKEN LIFE
SIMPLICITY
Romans 12:8 King James Version (KJV)
Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity;"
2 Corinthians 1:12 King James Version (KJV)
For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.

But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
Simplicity must be like that which is in Christ.
When you read your bible well you will see why the Jews had issues with Jesus. It's because He was saying things which were considered too simple.
On certain occasion he will say
"Repent, believe the son of God"
they found that prescription too simple, because they would no longer offer sacrifices and offerings. They therefore complained that it was too simple.
When your simplicity is inward you will regard all your possessions as gift from God. You will trust God knowing he's the only one who can open doors and close them and that with him you can't do anything.
The inner reality of brokenness is not a reality until there is an outward expression. A person who is broken to the depth will be noted by his outward appearance.
FOUR WAYS TO GET BROKEN
BY PRAYER
This is a challenge select seven days and during this seven days all you do is pray " O Lord, break me! By the time you do this, you will become a different person.BY STUDY
Dig into the deep of the Bible, study the worship of God, know what it is saying, memorise it, confess it and talk to people about itBY MEDITATION
You will have to meditate daily on the word of God and what He has asked you to do.BY FASTING
Any pastor telling you that fasting is not needed in your life that Jesus has fasted for you. Is deceiving you.
There must be a vertical power before you can exhibit a horizontal power.
The deeper your brokenness, the stronger your christian foundation and nothing can move you.
Fasting in the life of a Christian can be liken to this:
"Do you remember the two men who were asked to build In the Bible. One built on the sand and one built on the rock, when the wind and storm came it was the house built on the the sand that collapsed but the one built on the rock didn't".
Don't be the type of Christian that goes to the church to just dance and dance, especially in the ill manner you read the Bible and pray. This is very bad. Your Christian life should not have a repeat on shallowness but on the deep things of God.
Practice brokenness and your life will never remain the same.
PRAYER POINT
- Every enemy of brokenness in my life, depart in the name of Jesus.
- Lord break me down to the depth of my spirit in the name of Jesus.
- My shaven Samson, Receive your hair in the name of Jesus.
