Be govern by the word and not by the world

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

The Bible made us to understand that we are in the world but not of the world. If we are not of the world, it means we have a kingdom to which we belong to and if we have a kingdom we belong to and is not of this world and we are in the world, it means we are representing that kingdom here in this world. I.e we are ambassador here on Earth. And as ambassadors, our actions and conducts should conform to the kingdom we represent. Sadly, most Christians don't know this truth, they are ignorant of their existence here on Earth thereby led into being conformed with the world and it lifestyles.

Many people who are supposed to be ambassadors have shaped their culture and ideologies and have allowed the world system govern their actions and conducts. They have believed men rather than God and have thrown away the counsel of God. Worldliness have over crowded their minds that they no longer see the light. When we were supposed to be like Christ, whom bread was to do the will of His heavenly father who sent Him, we are becoming like the world whose bread is pleasure in sin, comfort for the flesh, sexual immorality and wickedness. As men distance themselves from the word, gradually the world get hold of them.

1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

The Bible is the Christian manual for living an effective life in Christ and in the earth but then the devil has done all in his power to hinder us from reading our given manual for victory.

A short story
Longtime ago, there lived a mighty and wealthy king who had just a son, when he was about to die, seeing that the child was still little, he gave his brother a book who was the son's uncle to give him when he's grown. The father died and the boy was grown. The uncle knowing that book contained all the will and good wish for his son decided to make the son hate his father by lying to the boy how wicked his father was and how he doesn't want him to enjoy life and he did everything possible to hinder the King's son from getting hold of the book neither reading it to discover how loving and Goodwill his father was.

Description
The father of the son is Jesus, the uncle represent the devil, the son are children of God and the Bible is the book. Just like the above story, our father Jesus has given us a Goodwill to guide our success but the devil has been busy trying to hinder men from knowing the will of God for us in the Bible and has filled people with lies.
