METHODS OF FARMING CATFISH
In catfish farming, the building of ponds or a tank where the fish will be stored is very important. It serves as a breeding/growing place for the fishes.
The ponds should be built to have good drainage and high enough so that the fishes cannot jump out of it. A good source of water supply should be made available where the pond is to be sited.

Catfish fingerlings are normally used at the beginning of the process. It is usually fed from the beginning till it is big enough for harvesting.
Catfish does not take time to grow; it usually takes around 6 months. Its growth can be accelerated with some special feeds.
It is also very important to prevent diseases. Regular vaccination and check up if there are symptoms that show disease outbreak should be done by an experienced veterinarian. Such symptoms include open sores, loss of colour, inactivity, red spots on the body etc.
The feed of the catfish is essential to the growth of the fish, for proper growth of the fish; the fish should not be underfed.
The feed can be locally made or bought already made but the feed most contain some important nutrients like lysine, arginine and methionine.
