OVERCOMING EVIL

Matthew 5: 38-39
Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:

But I say unto you, that ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

Eye for an eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe
(Exodus 21:24-25).

Naturally, one will be satisfied if he or she is able to pay another back with the same treatment received from the person either good or bad.
Today, JESUS tells us not to go that way but rather resist evil by showing love to those who do evil to us.

This is never easy to do but will you go against what JESUS has said? We need to strive to get to that level in our walk with the LORD because that will make us look like HIM (A forgiving GOD).

If you are able to avoid the expected of striking back after being struck
(Deuteronomy 19:21)

Your love for the 'evil' will surely win the heart of an enemy.
This is the kind of love GOD showed to the world by sacrificing HIS only Son, when we had offended HIM. For GOD'S commandment is love toward us, in that whiles we yet sinners, CHRIST died for us (Romans 5:8).

Whenever you pay evil with good, there is always a possibility of winning your brother no matter how hardened his heart may be.
I pray that GOD grants us the grace to be able to do this in the Name of JESUS.

Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good
(Romans 12:21)
