Sustained by God

Most times we assume that what we are sustained by the food we eat, the water we drink, our wealth or possession, the people we know and even our achievements in life.we feel whatever we have is as a result of our hard work and human strength, but that is not the case because whatever we eat or regardless of the amount of money we have it is not enough to sustain us.there is a popular saying that "if life was thing that money could buy, the rich would live and the poor would die" but that is not the case because the rich also die they fall sick and sometimes money cannot solve their problems while does who struggle to eat end up enjoying long life

1 Be careful to follow every command I am giving you today, so that you may live and increase and may enter and possess the land that the LORD promised on oath to your forefathers.
2 Remember how the LORD your God led you all the way in the desert these forty years, to humble you and to test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.
3 He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.
4 Your clothes did not wear out and your feet did not swell during these forty years.
5 Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the LORD your God disciplines you.
6 Observe the commands of the LORD your God, walking in his ways and revering him.
7 For the LORD your God is bringing you into a good land--a land with streams and pools of water, with springs flowing in the valleys and hills;
8 a land with wheat and barley, vines and fig trees, pomegranates, olive oil and honey;
9 a land where bread will not be scarce and you will lack nothing; a land where the rocks are iron and you can dig copper out of the hills.
10 When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the LORD your God for the good land he has given you.
11 Be careful that you do not forget the LORD your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day.
Deuteronomy 8:1-11

In verse 3 of the passage above moses reminded the Israelites of how god humbled them by causing the to hunger and then providing food for them to teach them that man does not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of the lord. This tells us that we are sustained not by the food we eat but by the word of God, when we diligently obey his commands and believe his promises towards us then we can truly say that our lives are sustained by God.
A lot of people are living reckless lives, like the rich fool in Luke 12:16-21

16 And he told them this parable: "The ground of a certain rich man produced a good crop.
17 He thought to himself, 'What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.'
18 "Then he said, 'This is what I'll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.
19 And I'll say to myself, "You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry." '
20 "But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?'
21 "This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God."

They feel that what they have is as result of their power,like the rich man who thought the bountiful harvest he had was a result of his own strength. God described him as a fool and that day his life was demanded from him, God also Said that would be the case for anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich towards God, may we not be foolish to store up things for ourselves forgetting that we are created to serve God.
God is telling us that true life only exists in full obedience and dependence on him. Are you feeling hopeless because man has forsaken you? Turn to God today in him alone can you find true sustenance.
