Clay is an element of real utility in the manufacture of objects necessary for human life. With it, bricks, tiles and various glasses are prepared. The Bible makes use of the figures of clay and the potter when referring to the relationship between man and God. In the end, the clay was used by the Creator, in the formation of the human being who with death will return to the dust of the earth.

The divine potter, unlike humans, not only works the matter, but made it emerge from nothing. The best procedure for a servant of the Lord, a disciple of Jesus, is to let God, the wise and supreme potter, mold him. In order that it may be a vessel, according to the divine will, for the glory of the holy name of Jesus, and the real, eternal and complete happiness of the believer.

Mud is common matter. It has no special value, such as gold, silver, precious stones, oil, etc. There are no people to fight for him. Because of oil, nations enter into serious conflicts. But the mud is still trampled, and only arouses interest after its use in something specific.

God sees man as common matter, corrupted by sin, without value, without hope, without future. There is no reason for any human pride or superiority complex. In fact, no one passes from fragile mud. An object made of that material, even finished and adorned, breaks with impressive ease. Without a wise potter, the pieces of a destroyed object are only destined for garbage.

Fortunately, there is a divine potter, intelligent, able to create from nothing, to form useful vessels of mud. And to remake them from the pieces, when necessary, and there is full submission to the Creator potter.
