Getting Much More than you ask for from God(A case study of Bartimaeus)
Some times in the journey of life, we might be passing through some challenges that seem things are not working out the way they suppose to. At this point, our focus might be just to get solution to a certain problem but an encounter with God can bring solutions to all other problems.
There was a man called Bartimaeus,he was a blind man from womb and all what he desire is just for him to see, while looking for this means, he had an encounter one day that change everything about him.
Mark 10:46-52
46 And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.
47And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
48And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
49And Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.
50And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.
51And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.
52And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus in the way.
According to the above scriptures, Bartimaeus asked for just one thing but he got everything.
According to the verse 51 of Mark 10; Jesus asked Bartimaeus what he really wants Him(Jesus) to do for him(Bartimaeus).
"And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee?"
The blind man(Bartimaeus) after hearing this question, without hesitation, he requests for only one thing;
That he might receive his sight
"The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight."
He never thought of anything apart from regaining his sight back but Jesus Christ has greater things for him even more than he requested for. He was made WHOLE
"And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way."
Note the word "WHOLE" and note that his destiny must have tired down in one spot due to his blindness, he must have lost so many privileges which his friends/mates were enjoying because he was blind. Many of his able-bodied mates must have progressed far beyond him and he was a laughing stock. But when he met Jesus Christ, instead of just seeing again, he was made completely whole
"Whole" means, he got back or recovered all his physical and spiritual blessings which he had lost in the past.
"Whole" means, the yoke of was turned into a bliss party.
"Whole" means, all his sources of shame in his life became the launching pad of fame.
"Whole" means, he moved from pity to party.
He was set free from stagnation.
What a glorious and powerful word you have shared. I rejoice in it, sometimes circumstances want to stop us and send a message opposed to faith, to miracle. I see that this man did not stop calling Jesus, he was heard by Jesus and he received more than he expected. I take this word for myself, I believe that there is a purpose for God to share it and to allow me to read. God bless you brother.
I love your contributions here.
God always has reason for everything.
We just have to keep calling on Him in faith.
This word has ministered my life, thank you for sharing it.
