BEWARE OF PERSONAL OPINIONS
INTRODUCTION
Believers must be very careful of personal opinions when the word of God is in view especially in the aspect of interpretation.
- Say it the way it is in the Bible or keep shut.
John 8:5 "Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?"
- The story in the eight chapter of John is very unique; the chapter is dedicated to the cause and effect of the actions of the Pharisees.
This woman had been caught in adultery, and brought to Jesus for 'judgment'. Somehow, the man she was caught in the very act with was missing. See the hypocrisy of men.
Jesus was then told what the old testament verdict was, and was asked of His own opinion. Since they know the scripture, why did they ask??
- What a beautiful tactics employed by the Pharisee to apprehend Jesus and to disregard everything He stands for
John 8:6
"They were trying to trap him into saying something they could use against him, but Jesus stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger"
Today, scoffers and scorners, mockers and unrepentant men ask us of our opinions on some rather clear issues in the Scriptures. They'd say "though the Bible says this and that, what sayest thou"?.
- Many have fallen into this traps that they can't come out from.
- Some go as far as saying we know it's in the scripture but what is your own logical opinion or view as a rational human
- We do not have our 'personal opinions' where the Scriptures have spoken. Born again Christians stand where the Bible stands, and don't cook up or stir up their opinions.
Conclusion
If the Bibles calls it 'white', then the Believer must too.
Happy Sunday and have a blessed day ahead.
