The rich man and Lazarus - Luke 16:19-31

Jesus Christ explained this parable to teach us a vital lesson on best way to use our material wealth. He said, there was once a rich who had many beautiful things life can offer at his beck and call. There also lived another man who was poor. His name was Lazarus. Each day, the rich man would put on the most beautiful and expensive clothes , he usually invites his friends to come, eat and dine with him at his house. Lazarus, has sores over his body, which makes him to sit at the gate with dogs around him to lick his wounds. Lazarus usually eats from the crumbs that fell from the rich man's table.

Not long, Lazarus died and their is Joy in heaven, the angels of God carried him into heaven. The rich man later follow suite; he died and end up in hell where he suffered in hell. The rich man looks up and lo and behold Lazarus enjoying at the bosom of Abraham. He called out to Abraham to please tell Lazarus to dip his finger into water and put in his mouth, that his thirst. Nobody answered his call. Abraham refresh his memory on how he enjoyed his life during his days on planet, while Lazarus is suffering. Now, its time for Lazarus to enjoy, while he will suffer forever. Abraham also reminder him that it would never be possible for anybody to cross over to his side because there was a gap separating them.

The rich man was disappointed and cried. He begged Abraham to please send Lazarus to his house on earth to warn his brothers to mend their ways and not to end up in hell. Abraham replied and told him that there are prophets like Moses and others on earth to preach to them and warn them. If they don't heed to the prophets, they will not heed to a dead person that came to warn them.

Moral lesson

1. Whatever blessings God place in your hands, we must remember those that are helpless, needy and the poor among us. God blessed us so that we shall be a blessing to others, by so doing we have succeeded in putting a smiles on their faces.

2. God is pleased with those who love and serve him no matter their status. When such people die, God prepares a place where no pain, suffering will be found. There is severe punishment for those who live their lives the way they like. The story of Lazarus reminds us that one day we all will give account of how we lived our lives.
