Welcome to my blog once again! Today we will be looking at the parable of the talents under the parables about maturity and responsibility.

The parable of the talents - Mattew 25:14-30

Talents can be seen as a free gift given to us by God to glorify Him and help expand it's kingdom. Jesus teaches us a vital lesson from this parable. He uses the story of a certain man who decided to embark on a journey. But before he left, he called the three servants working for him and shared his property among them. To one, he gave five talents and to the second servant, he gave two talents while the third servant received one talent. He distributed this talents based on the servants ability and capability.

The first servant, sat and think of what he will invest his talents on in order to yield profit before the arrival of his master. He invested his talent and made extra five talent. Having five additional talents as his profit. And he was very happy of his progress. The second servant on the other hand also invested his two talents in business and he made a profit of an extra two talents and he was pleased with himself. While the third servant in thought of what he will do with his own talents, after much thinking, he concluded that his servant is a greedy man, who reaps where he did not sow, it's better for me to keep his money safe by digging a hole after that i will buried his talent in the ground.

When his master arrives from his journey on that faithful day, he summoned the three servant before him to give an account on how they spend their talents while he was away. The first servant came before him and said "Sir, you gave me five talent which i invested in business and earn an extra five". The second did in the same manner. He was pleased with the two servant who invested their talents and extra talents. The third servant came before him and said "Sir, I know you as a man who reaps where he did not sow, so i carefully dug a hole and buried your talent so that it will be safe by the time you comes back" The master became furious and rebuked him saying "You know I reap where i did not sow, why didnt you give my talent to upsury, so by the time i come back it will yield profit for me". He took the talent from the irresponsible servant and give it to the servant who made an extra five.

This parable teaches us the need to use our talents for the benefit of all.
