Live and Let Live; #KASHMIRDAY!
Today on 5th February, every year, Pakistan observes a holiday in order to show support for their Muslim brothers struggling for their lives and freedom in Indian Occupied Kashmir.
This dispute dates back to 14th August 1947 when Pakistan came into being and the world map was priviliged with another country which was soon to become a leading Muslim Nation.
Sir Cyril Radcliffe drew the RADCLIFFE LINE separating what was then called the sub-continent or Hindustan. He didn't give Kashmir to Pakistan even though it was a Muslim dominant city. Also known as Heaven on Earth. That is because its ruler at that time was a Hindu Maharaja and he willed to join India.
But the consequences are that the city which once contained the majority is now being turned into minority.
Everyother day, people of Kashmir face curfew! Where do they bring the food from?
Everyother day, the doors of their prayer house the Masjid are being closed for them! Where do they go to pray?
Everyday, the schools and colleges filled with students are being shelled and gassed! Where do they go to study?
There is hardly any internet access on that land! How do they raise their voice so that it reaches you?
How do they tell us their stories which shake our cores and open our eyes?
Dear friends, they are humans just like us. They want nothing much but just a little freedom to practice their religion.
To live a life we are living with our families and loved ones.
Almost every other day, one family takes a dead body on their shoulders to grave. There has been so much killing and violence until now that we are even afraid to keep count.
All those people want is just security. For them and their children. Proper education, food and clothing!
Are not these the basic necessaties that we all live for?
Then what are those poor souls being punished for?
If asking and striving for basic needs is a crime, then I too am a Freedom Fighter. And I stand with my Kashmiri Brothers.
I would humbly request @sirknight to help raise the voice with us!
It has been 70 years! How many more to come?
