This is a very interesting point on the Christian idea of 'idolatry'. Many other religions imbue objects with special importance and they are therefore worthy of worship. But, I think the point for Christians is that if they use a 'prop' in their worship then they should remember that this is only a symbol and not an object of worship.
I know different sects vary on what they call idolatry and what is allowable.
