The power of Togetherness

Genesis 11:1-4
[1]AND THE whole earth was of one language and of one accent and mode of expression.
[2]And as they journeyed eastward, they found a plain (valley) in the land of Shinar, and they settled and dwelt there.
[3]And they said one to another, Come, let us make bricks and burn them thoroughly. So they had brick for stone, and slime (bitumen) for mortar.
[4]And they said, Come, let us build us a city and a tower whose top reaches into the sky, and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered over the whole earth.

In the accounts of this scriptures of the Bible teaches us that some group of people travelled from the east, they find themselves a land called Shinar. In the verse 1 the Bible talks about the whole earth was of one language and of one speech. The Hebrew word translated as one is 'aw-khad' which means 'unify' that is collect one's thoughts. They came to conclusion that if they do not build themselves a city and a tower they will be scattered abroad upon the face of the earth.It means that if they do not come together in thought and find themselves a family, they will be disunity among them. And they came together they were able to build a tower and make name for themselves.
In the account of Acts of the Apostles 2:1-4
[1]When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place.
[2]And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting.
[3]And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them.
[4]And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. In this scriptures teaches us that the coming of the Holy Ghost is a result of the oneness of the Apostles. The Bible talks about one accord which means with one mind.

Let examine some characteristics when some group of people come together as one.

1. Boldness
   The Bible say after they were filled with Holy Ghost as a result of oneness, Peter was able to stand in boldness to proclaim the Gospel .
2. They have things in common. And all that believed were together and had all things in common. And sold their possessions and good and parted them to all men, as every man had need. Acts 2:44-45.
   In all when a group of people come together, a goal is fulfilled. As members of steemchurch let all come together so that the goal of this community will be achieved.
