DECISION MAKING
Life from birth to death is characterized by steps and changes. These steps and changes that every person will experience is piloted by the kind of choices or decisions they take. Right from the very first moment our brains starts developing, we start making decisions. Infact everyday of lives is gone through by decisions, that is we decide what to eat, what to wear and how to use our time through out a day. Decisions are of different shapes and sizes. They range from the small ones we make daily to the life changing ones we make in a long run, like our career path to follow, the person we marry, the kind of religion we practice, and also our beliefs etc. All these decisions have consequences. The small ones made in a regular pattern everyday tend to become a habit and the big becomes a path that our life will follow through its span. This is why as Christians we should be very cautious about the kind of decisions we make. Our decisions shapens us.
Decision Making
Decision making is the kind of attitude we possess when making decisions. Having had the knowledge that decisions are very consequential, it is important for us as Christians to take certain steps before deciding anything even in the case of the small choices we are faced with. The secret is that there are Bible principles that can guide us into making the right decision. I will point out some;
Seek God's Opinion
This is most important thing to do as a Christian when we are about to take any kind of decision. There are many ways which we can do this. To mention a few, We can;
*** Seek God's opinion through prayer when we want to make big decisions that we seem very confused about**.
*** Listen to the direction from the holy spirit on the right thing to do**.
*** Apply our knowledge and understanding from the Bible which has made us know what is write and wrong**.
When we have seeked God opinion on what we should do, we then have to complete trust in it and believe it will take us to the right path because no one can be misled by God.
Think outside the box
It has proven very effective to see things from more than one point of view. This can also be applied to decision making. The benefit from a typical option we want to take might come with a consequential clause attached to it which we may not see when we are just staring at the benefit only. Having different views thoroughly will give us better options to weigh and chose the best out it. One option is not always enough. Think of it in several ways and look for informations about them that can enlighten you on the reason any option should be better than the other. You can also back up any option that seems the best but you don't feel comfortable with it, by having alternative options which are mostly the next best choice to the one you take as the the best. This is very beneficial for small decisions and can be very helpful to choose a routine.
Decide and Act the Decision
After you might have taken time to carefully know the right decision to take, the only way to know if it is the right or wrong thing, is to act it with diligence. There is no point delaying any decisions you have already taken because it might be best effective as at the time you decided. There are always benefits from properly taken decision. You can be very happy with it when it turns out to be right, and also learn from it when it is wrong. But you can not know this if you don't act on you decision. Action is as important as the decision itself.
Now lets see some Bible references on Decision Making
