MY FULL SUMMARY OF MATTHEW CHAPTER 1
The book of Mathew chapter 1 was a genealogy of Jesus christ. In verse 1 of the chapter, Jesus christ was introduced as ''the son of David, the son of Abraham'' and Jesus' line of descent is traced immediately after. Three sets of fourteen generation was made known. You will come accross names like Abraham who beget Isaac and Isaac beget Jacob while Jacob beget Judas and his brethren. The verse ran all the way through fourteen generations ending with Mathan who begot Jacob and Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called christ. (1-15).
After the break down of Jesus' descent, the book went nto the actual birth of Jesus. ''Mary was espoused to Joseph'' -- Meaning they got engaged. Mary comes to the know that she is pregnant through the Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost). But Joseph the husband seeks to make the pregnancy not go public until the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. Joseph was instructed against his wishes of making Mary's pregnancy a secret. An angel said to him; "Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy Wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost."
Jesus, the son of God, is not a man that can be hidden. You could never have hidden the savior of the world. He is the son of the living God who will save people from their sin.
All these happens in fulfilment of the word which was psoken by the prophet. Mathew quotes Isaiah for good measure. ''Behold a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel.''
Joseph wakes up from his dream with a changed mind in the final verse of the chapter. He marries Mary. But he ''knew her not'' (adult speak for sex) till she brought her firstborn son -- whom he called his name JESUS.
