avoid unnecessary risks
2 Peter 3:18
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.
“Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? Let him show by good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.” jas
3:13.
Knowledge of the word of God is an important ingredient that is needed to develop a careful and sensible attitude that makes us avoid unnecessary risks. The knowledge goes beyond intellectual Understanding or a broad general knowledge but spiritual Understanding. In 2Pet. 3:18, we were admonished by Peter to grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. With the knowledge of God we will not run more than our legs can carry us but keep our gun powder dry. With knowledge of God we will be able to avoid unnecessary risks when we don't have careless attitude in our conversation, not confiding in those who are not worthy of our trust. Someone said “Have more than thou showest; speak less than thou knowest.” '
In John 2:23-25, an incident was narrated to teach us the need to grow in the knowledge of God to avoid challenges. “Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men. And needed not that any should testify of man; for he knew what was in man.” Jesus is omniscith who possesses the knowledge of God to the fullest; he refused to commit himself to people because he knows the outcome of it. With knowledge of God, things amounting to unnecessary risks can be identified.
Prayer: Lord, give me your knowledge to see beyond the obvious so as to avoid unnecessary risks in life, in Jesus . name Amen
