ROOTED IN THE LORD
PSALM 1: 1-6
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
To be rooted is to strengthen with roots, to render firm, to fix, establish, and cause a person or a thing to be thoroughly grounded. And grounded means: to lay the foundation (resting on and in Christ), to make stable and establish. If we are to be rooted and grounded in the Lord, we must allow the Holy Spirit to work in us through God's words. Otherwise, we may be swept away by the devil's delusive snares. Being rooted in the Lord means we are anchored on Christ the Rock against the billows of life struggles and wind of doctrines that tossed people here and there. So, plant yourself every day at the feet of the Father and you will not be moved. Let us take great pleasure in the study of the Word. As we dwell in it, allow it to sink deeply and penetrate our hearts and our daily lives, we will be rooted in the Lord for that eternal reward.
