We need to be prepared for temptation.

Temptation is NOT just for a few, but those who are wise prepare for it when it comes.

Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been tested, he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. 13 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone. 14 But each person is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desire and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. 16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers.

James 1:12-16

We all have a moment in which we face a certain temptation, we also fight against temptation, it is very important that we always understand that temptation as well as sin originates in our minds, it is born from a thought.

14 but each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust and enticed.

James 1:14

We have the option of holding on to these thoughts or not, if we do so the next step is to turn these thoughts into a fantasy, this means that we imagine what what we are thinking about would be like if we brought it to the plane of reality. When these fantasies are already installed in our minds, they easily affect our emotions and from this point the desire is born that directly affects the decision we make.

All this is a small circuit of how far a simple thought can go, it can directly influence the decisions we make. Perhaps at the same time we think that it is simply a thought but this can grow until it becomes the reality that we would not want but for which we do decide. Generally we do not stop to think about this whole process of our thoughts but it is necessary to understand it in order to know how our choices can be affected.

Being wise is knowing things, also knowing how our mind and our thought process work, this helps us to be able to resist temptation in advance, with wisdom we can build the whole defense before being attacked. We have the option of knowing and understanding that God is in control of things.

No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

1 Corinthians 10:13

Being wise implies that we strengthen our defense against temptation long before it follows. Let us remember that our enemy has the ability to show us the pleasure that sin has and this may be the only thing we are seeing at any given moment. But strengthening our defense implies that we meditate on the word of God and communicate with God. The more we persist in this, the stronger our defense against temptation becomes.
