Listening to God's voice is crucial, even when we are working hard to help other people, we must make sure that we are doing God's will by listening to Him.

From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised. 22 Then Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, "Lord, have mercy on you; by no means let this happen to you." 23 But he turned and said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are an obstacle to me, because you do not set your mind on the things of God, but on the things of men."

Matthew 16:21-23

God's children have a very important calling, among all of them we must know that we have to be compassionate. And we must also discern while practicing kindness and mercy.

37 He said, "He who showed mercy to him." Then Jesus said to him, "Go and do likewise."

Luke 10:37

There are times when we think we are doing good but we intervene in the lives of people and it may be that we are hindering or hindering the work of God in that person. Let us take the example of God who at one moment in his life allowed his feelings to betray him and did not follow through on his discernment when he interfered with Christ's plan. This was surely an event that will have marked Peter forever.

Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

Matthew 16:16

Peter knew exactly who the Lord Jesus Christ was, he knew that he was the Messiah, the Son of the living and true God, at the same time he had misconceptions about the mission of Jesus Christ the Son of God. Just as many Israelites were waiting for the Messiah, the king to put an end to the oppressive regime. For this reason the apostle Peter did not accept the recommendations of the Lord Jesus Christ about the judgment and mistreatment that awaited him on the cross. Peter tried to convince Jesus that this end was not convenient, that it was not possible, at this moment Peter was rebuked for trying to intervene in the will of God which would be the life of Jesus Christ and his redemptive death.

Then Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, Lord, have mercy on you; by no means shall this happen to you.

Matthew 16:22

The Lord Jesus Christ had a mission, his priority was to free humanity from sin instead of ending the oppressive Roman regime. While the apostle Peter had a much smaller vision of the Lord's entire divine plan, Peter's mistaken idea led him to rebel, not listening to the voice of God even though he had good desires, Peter tried to alter the divine plan of God and of all humanity.
Let us pay attention, even when we are doing good to others, let us not make this mistake that Peter left us an example of, we do not wish nor is it our intention to be an obstacle in God's plans, let us listen carefully to the voice of God and our steps will be guided in righteousness.
