God is ENOUGH!

Are we truly getting to know the almighty God or is our appreciation of who God is simply based on a slight knowledge of Him?

12 Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and the heavens in his span, and gathered the dust of the earth in three fingers, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in balances? 13 Who has taught the Spirit of the LORD, or taught him counsel, or taught him? 14 Of whom has he sought counsel, and been advised? Who has taught him the way of justice, or taught him knowledge, or shown him the path of understanding? 15 Behold, the nations are like a drop of water that falls from a bucket, and are counted as the small dust in the balances; behold, he makes the islands vanish like dust. 16 Lebanon will not suffice for the fire, nor all its animals for sacrifice. 17 All the nations are as nothing before him, and in comparison they will be counted as less than nothing, and as what is not.
18 To whom then will you liken God, or what likeness will you make for him? 19 The craftsman prepares a carved image, the goldsmith spreads gold for it and casts chains of silver for it. 20 The poor man chooses wood to offer him that will not be worm-eaten; he seeks a wise craftsman to make him a carved image that will not be shaken.
21 Do you not know? Have you not heard? Have you not been told from the beginning? Have you not been taught since the earth was laid? 22 He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, whose inhabitants are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a curtain, he spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. 23 He brings the powerful to nothing, and makes those who rule the earth as a thing of no use. 24 As though they had never been planted, as though they had never been sown, as though their stem had never taken root in the earth; as soon as it blows on them they wither, and the whirlwind carries them away like chaff. 25 To what then will you liken me or compare me? says the Holy One. 26 Lift up your eyes on high, and see who created these things; he brings out and numbers his host; he calls them all by name; not one will be missing; so great is his strength, and so powerful is his dominion. 27 Why do you say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel, My way is hidden from the LORD, and my judgment is passed over from my God? 28 Have you not known, have you not heard that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, does not faint nor grow weary, and no one can fathom his understanding. 29 He gives strength to the weary, and increases strength to the powerless. 30 The youths grow faint and tired, the young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who wait for the Lord will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.

Isaiah 40:12-31

Surely if today we take a group of people to ask them what God is like, some of their main characteristics, we will surely get very different answers from each person. Mostly the answer that people give us reveals much more about the people than God himself is, what's more: truly knowing God can be really surprising and shocking.
When we can contemplate how God reveals himself in the Bible, we can identify him as a person, we discover the different names of God and surprisingly we discover each of his attributes, all this makes us understand that God understands everything that can happen to us, much more than we can understand ourselves, for example, God knows our emotions much better than we do ourselves.
The word of God also reveals something surprising, it shows us that God is immutable, his nature and character never change. God is always love, his love for each one of us never varies nor diminishes. Also through his word we understand that his principles are true and that he always acts as he has promised in the Bible.

Before the mountains were born
And you formed the earth and the world,
From everlasting to everlasting, you are God.

Psalm 90:2

God is eternal, perhaps we cannot understand it but he has neither beginning nor end, God is the same yesterday, today and forever. No one has ever created God. Perhaps this is very difficult to understand for us as limited and finite human beings, just as we cannot understand this many times we cannot understand God and his ways but we can be grateful and confident that God is much more than we can understand and imagine, above all having that full assurance that God always has the best for us, his children.
